Chapel of the Seafarers Centre at the Muuga Harbour

Built: the 20th century, 2008The Chapel of the Seafarers Centre at the Muuga Harbour was built 10 years ago. The newly renovated chapel now has a new limestone altar built on the seabed and weighing over two tons. There are also stained glass windows by Dolores Hoffmann and icons by Tiina Veisserik. The ceiling painting of the chapel depicts the starry sky.

Maardu Manor was first mentioned in written records in 1397. Maardu Manor ensemble, located on a small ridge, is one of the most imposing ones among the old complexes. The manor house has hosted the Russian tsar Peter I and among others the manor has also belonged to his wife, later Empress Catherine, as well as to other prominent families of noble rank. By today the manor has undergone complete renovation and it operates as a study and holiday centre.Interesting to know: - lord of the manor von Bohn, one of the owners of Maardu Manor, made cultural history by paying the printing costs of the first Bible in Estonian.
