Black Pine Animal Sanctuary

This 18-acre sanctuary provides permanent refuge to more than 100 captive-raised exotic animals for the REST of their lives. Quiet, informative tours of the facility enable visitors to enjoy close-up observation of tigers, leopards, bears, monkeys, reptiles, birds, lions, and more. Set in a beautiful pine forest in a natural wildlife area, this volunteer-staffed non-profit refuge is one of the most well-respected in the nation, and does not buy, sell, breed, or trade animals. Black Pine is a hidden treasure for nature lovers of all ages! Free parking. Picnics welcomed. Tours available year-round. Inquire for tour times, other program offerings, and special events throughout the year.

First time here. Can't wait to return. I took the guided tour and the feeding tour. In between I had over two hours to go back and check out the animals on my own. The entire location is clean, well organized, nice black top walkways...MoreThank you for sharing your experience! We are so pleased you enjoyed it, and even happier you learned some things along the way. - Lori

Friendly staff, small little winery in a countryside setting. Their wine list is small but they have some good wines. We enjoyed the Strawberry and the Peach Apricot the best. We even got a free travel cork screw.

If enough people share their concerns, perhaps the USDA will finally shut this place down. Animals have been seized for biting patrons. Violations of animal welfare laws have been repeatedly cited. Now, animals are being transported for exhibits offsite suffering from obvious injuries. Profit is apparently more important than the welfare of the animals - or the patrons - at this roadside, unaccredited zoo.

This course is a reasonably priced option to the Max Welton course in the Wawasee region. Flat and well-maintained, it's more of a challenge than it looks. Usually pretty easy to get a tee time of your choice. They have a restaurant, but we didn't have the chance to try it.
