Such an amazing place to go. As soon as you get to the plantation you will feel like you've traveled back in time. Gorgeous mansion with views all around of the beautiful country-side. They put together a very fun and memorable Civil War Re-enactment that is a must see in November. It is worth exiting HWY 290 to spend some time their with the whole family.

Back in the day this was a must stop. Filled to the brim with fresh local veggies, garden supplies, and just about anything on your list. Everything they sold was top quality and mostly local. Sadly their stock has diminished and my not be so local anymore. They are very limited in what they now offer

Peckerwood Garden

A beautiful garden full of rare plants.

Reviewed By Aragorn The Traveler - The World - But based in US

This garden is run as a foundation created by one person whose personal vision has shaped an interesting horticultural experience. We went in early spring (March) when no much was blooming. The guided tour pointed out many unusual species that the founder had personally collected on many trips. The property, located in Hempstead, Texas, also includes the founder's home, an art gallery, green houses. This is a volunteer run enterprise with much merit for those interested. For the casual garden goer, this will be a very pleasant walk through an interesting place.

After you've worked up an appetite, there's a Bar & Grill about 5 miles further down FM 359 called "The Thirsty Parrot" which was good for lunch. Both the gardens and the restaurant made the hours drive from Houston worthwhile.

Legendary Oaks Golf Course

Reviewed By RickK - Fulshear, Texas

Played this golf course recently. Looks like it was intended to be a gated community golf course that must have not made it. Community around it is gated but very few homes have been built. I am told that management of the course has changed (don't know when). Staff is very friendly and helpful. Greens and tee boxes were in pretty good shape. Fairways not bad either. Bunkers...maybe because of recent rains but they were packed hard and did not appear to have been maintained in days (maybe even weeks). I enjoyed it and would play again. Their rates are not bad either.

One of the world's largest collection of antique cars.

Had a chance to meet Lawrence Marshall, not sure how he ever sold a car. What a crank, BUT this museum is no longer in operation. Not sure why Trip Advisor sent me this note.
