This is a beach, a beautiful beach of Dominican REpublic. There are days you can not swim on it (IS VERY DANGEROUS), but the view is just espectacular.
Near of the beach there is a very cold Balneario where you can enjoy the ice water while eating delicious sea food.

The hiking tour Raylin provides is an unbelievable experience that anyone visiting the area should make time for. You'll come away with a great appreciation for and understanding of the Eco system, and the scenery and views are amazing. Finishing the hike by going down along the mountain stream to the Waterfalls was a great way for our group to end the experience.

This is not a beach in the sense that there is sand, the pebbles are fair size and go into the water. It is difficult to walk on and water shoes would be a benefit. There are restaurants, if you sit at a table you will be required to pay 300 pesos, if you are going to eat or drink the table is included in the prices. It is a stunning beach, beautiful. A great place to spend an afternoon.

We booked three tours in three consecutive days.
They were very well organised and interesting.
The lunches provided were delicious.
The agency and the field guide were very responsive and efficient.
Would strongly recommend if you want to see more of the Dominican Repulic outside the confines of the closed luxury resorts.

there is no clear indication on how to get there (no sign whatsoever) so just ask and ask until you make it. it is only for 4x4 (and a good one!) the road is full of rocks and my car could not make it to the end..we only found out after close to 35 mn of travelling that we were half way and that it would get worse..so I went on youtube and watched avery's experience in the mines!

GuanAventuras is located in La Cienaga west of Barahona. It is a cooperative run by Dominican men and women who share the proceeds. The prices were very affordable, especially compared to the other tour company in the area. Our family did two tours with GuanAventuras in June. The first was a hike to la Cueva de la Virgen -- about a 3 hour round trip which included a hike through dense tropical forest (shady and no mosquitos!). Our guide, Aurelio, pointed out Barancoli birds and tropical plants to us. About half of the hike was in the water, including some climbs up short, rushing Waterfalls. My boys, ages 8 & 11, didn't have any problems with the hike. We ended at a waterfall in a cave where we could swim in the cool, refreshing water. This part involved one difficult climb up a five-foot waterfall, but the guide helped push me & the kids up! It was so beautiful and peaceful.
After the hike we had a delicious Dominican meal prepared by some of the women in the coop. We also bought handmade jewelry and tropical fruit jelly from them. Two days later we went on the Larimar Mine tour. This was an incredible experience seeing the world's only larimar mine in action. The guides drove us in their 4x4 truck up a treacherous road. At the top we were able to walk around the mine premises and watch as the workers used buckets and pulleys to remove rock from the mine. This is not a touristy site at all - it felt like we were back in time to the gold rushes in the US, as the miners were covered in dirt and dust, and had constructed tin shacks around the holes into the mine. Apparently the EU is building a very modern tunnel and facilities that will probably change the look of the mine forever in the future. The guide gave us a lot of insight into how the miners work and their lives. We were able to purchase raw larimar rock from some of the miners. (Larimar is a blue stone unique to the DR and used in jewelry.) The guides speak Spanish and a little bit of English. It may be difficult if you don't speak any Spanish, particularly for the mine tour. They also offer other tours in the area, such as Bahia de Las Aguilas. I highly recommend these tours and love that they benefit the local community.
