Chaparai Waterfalls

The falls is a small one actually. Unlike the typical Himalayan Waterfalls this one was rather abrupt and small with less of water forces. The best part however is that you could set yourself free along the water current and would be carried away down the slope. The water current has smoothened the underlying rocks and hence the name of the falls. Since the rocks are smooth it won't hurt your back. We saw many people of different age group doing this activity

Coffee Museum

It was my first time experience of a coffee museum. Wish to relish freshly brewed Araku Coffee where it is grown? The Coffee Museum at Araku is the place to be. Located right behind the Tribal Museum here, the Coffee Museum provides a wide array of coffee flavours from different parts of the globe. At first glance, visitors and tourists may dismiss it as just another museum to promote coffee consumption. They are sure to be bowled over by the rich aroma, the taste of a wide range of freshly brewed coffee varieties. I brought coffee choclates and hand made coffee from this place. Also the coffee I had here was excellent.

Galikonda View Point

Good to see that TA has listed my suggested viewpoint. Now that is quite encouraging and hence I’d add a couple more lines to my review. This viewpoint can be seen on your way up from vizag to Araku. Your cab driver will stop at this spot by default and you wouldn’t have to request him even. Its not a very big place though. A small gallery bounded by iron railings so that you don’t fall off. You can stand here and enjoy the spectacular beauty of the eastern ghats. Obviously chicken fry, bamboo chicken fry etc are available here as well just like the entire tourist sighting locations of Araku. You get bottled water as well here from local vendors but they would charge you 50% more than MRP as they did to us. There is no entry fee for this spot as its just an open arena. There are photographers from whom you can take a nice snap for your family together. 3 photos cost us ₹90 after bargaining. Hope this review helps.

About 2 hours scenic drive from Araku Valley, Via Chaparai Waterfalls and Paderu.
This place is marked/available on Google map, can be navigated easily.
Parking for the Falls is next to the main road itself. it's a 3 minute walk for the Falls from the Parking.
It's a cascading Waterfalls, and we can access the foot of the falls through stairs with railings. Less crowded and nice picnic spot to have snacks/lunch. Carry food, nothing much available there except bamboo chicken. Expect to spend an hour or two.

Araku Valley

Reviewed By Shailendrasood - Hyderabad, India

Araku valley is a hill station close to Vizag in Andhra Pradesh. Though not comparable to other hill stations of south India like Ooty and Kodaikanal, it is a good option to cover if you are visiting Vizag along with Borra caves. There are some beautiful sunset views of Paddy fields in the Araku valley hills worth a visit.
