Denniston Heritage Trust

Reviewed By Jemmux96 - Wellington, New Zealand

Our trip to Denniston was surrounded in cloud due to the wet weather. Fortunately, none of the ambiance was taken away, if not enhanced by the mist covered ruins and step cliffs. Such intriguing history and such a dangerous environment for the miners to work in back in the early days of West Coast mining.

Cape Foulwind Walkway

Reviewed By GaryandLesleyTravel - Auckland Central, New Zealand

From the “Light house” car park the walk along this wonderful stretch of NZ coastline to the Fur Seal colony took us 45 mins each way allowing us multiple stops for photos. If you have the time it’s well worth it. On a clear day from the point you can see up to Karamea and down to Mt Cook. NZ for free at its best. #nzforfree

Westport I-Site

An I-Site with an abundance of information, with dedicated staff who have an extensive knowledge of the local area. You can also book a variety of travel here, including accommodation and Doc bookings for the great walks. We also have a large selection of retail, some from local artists around our region.

Tauranga Bay Seal Colony

Reviewed By DJandR - Wanaka, New Zealand

Fantastic walk from carpark up to Tauranga Bay seal colony, lots of information boards. Wide walkways and viewing platforms. We were saddened by the lack of seals 2x adults and numerous pups. The pups were having a lot of fun in the pools of water and clambering around the rocks. We last visited 26 years ago and there is a marked difference in the number of seals. Great parking and clean toilets. A must do in Westport.
