Coast to Coast Paddle

Reviewed By ErikHiker - Haverhill, United States

Aaron took us (my daughter and me) on a winter kayaking tour out of Beverly Harbor and then back along the coastline. For all the challenges of winter kayaking, they've made it a fun and safe adventure. The equipment is all top shelf quality and condition. The boats handle great and (most importantly to us today!) the wet suits, boots, and mitts kept us comfortable in winter conditions on the water. Maybe a little on the warm side even, when you're working through gusts and over waves, but hey that's why you're out there! They'll happily tune your tour to your skill level (we're novices) and however aggressive or laid back you want to be. Oh and Aaron's a great guide. A trove of knowledge on the area and wildlife AND just fun to chat with. Book a tour, have fun. We did!

Long Hill

This former family retreat has been renowned for its gardens for almost a century.

We spent a great few hours at Long Hill. There is something interesting around every corner in the gardens. We also took a walk in the woods - the trails can be narrow, rocky and with roots so hiking boots are suggested, but pleasant walking. There was plenty of parking and it wasn't crowded.

This is our fourth year going to see this production...it is magical, with great performances, terrific music and great traditions! David Coffey has been performing the role of Scrooge for 28 years and he brings a wonderfully nuanced performance to the role! Other cast members are equally as good. Special effects (though low tech) are magical! Love this show and it’s wonderful message! Not to be missed!

Larcom Theatre

Less than 24 miles from Boston, the fully restored Larcom Theatre is located in downtown Beverly, MA This gracious showplace featuring spectacular acoustics was built in 1912 (the same year as Fenway Park) by Harris and Glover Ware, two brothers and former vaudeville musicians from Marblehead, MA. For their new theatre, they chose the birth site of one of America's most widely read nineteenth-century poetesses, Lucy Larcom. After seven years of wowing audiences with his magic production at the 1920 Cabot Street Cinema Theatre (just 4 blocks away), Cesareo Pelaez, the founder of the Le Grand David stage magic ensemble, purchased the Larcom in 1984. Larcom's elegant horseshoe balcony, hand-painted antique pressed tin ceilings and original silk wall coverings take you back in time. In September 2016, a local couple from Beverly purchased the theatre and transformed it into a multi-arts venue enriching the community with music, dance, theatre, comedy, variety shows, and more.

Beautiful place in downtown Beverly. Very good acoustics. It could use more restrooms and lobby space.

The Cabot

Reviewed By BostonJandP - Beverly, United States

We have gone to the Cabot for many concerts over the past few years. Over the past few years they have been restoring the theatre and replaced all the seating with nice comfortable seats with drink holders. The prices for most concerts are very reasonable. They also have been showing various first run movies on a limited basis on nights there are not live performances. Again priced the same or less than the major movie chains without the crowd. They also have a number of children's shows and attractions on Saturdays. It is truly a gem and special place.
