After the bush fires of over 12 months back, Bald Rock National Park is recovering. Eucalypts are starting to branch out after sprouting along their trunks and native herbs are flowering in high Summer. We took the longer walk to the summit through swathes of new growth. Despite claimed as 3 hours one way we were there in an hour. There's a bit of clambering to be done near the end but all manageable for folks of average fitness. We didn't traverse the short, steep section. The track is well maintained and a credit to the NPWS. We had read it cost $7 for a day visit. This, we discovered, is now $8. Well worth the price.

Stories of Australia's history are told through exciting and innovative displays and the museum features the Banquet Hall, where Sir Henry Parkes delivered his famous Federation speech in 1889. A display of memorabilia from Parkes' personal life, including a compelling portrait by Julian Ashton, ivory carvings and journals is situated in the gallery. The School of Arts is owned by the National Trust, and in 1957 was the first building in NSW to be gifted to the trust by an act of parliament. The complex also features the Tenterfield Cinema & Theatre. This charming cinema features state of the art digital projection and screenings of all the latest movies, as well as live performances of music and theatre. We visited the beautifully restored museum yesterday Having been to so many museums but we thought this was one of the best we have seen We were given a tour by a very informed man who could answer any question asked so thankyou The building is a credit to Tenterfield with the thought that has gone into the restoration of the areas of display and the theatre and also has some amazing donated items We were also able to listen to Sir Henry Parkes famous speech So worth a visit

We had been walking up in Bald Rock National Park and decided to dropped into Boonoo Boonoo NP on our way back to Tenterfield. It is an easy 14km 2x2 wheel drive over dirt road to the end. Along the way you pass a turn off to a picnic area and a little further there is the camping ground. Unfortunately the area had been badly affected in the bush fires and was only just getting some new foliage. There is a covered picnic area and drop toilet at the end. We walked down the short track to the lookout overlooking the spectacular falls. There had been a bit of recent rain so the falls were running a bit. The view over the gorge is stunning and well worth seeing. On the way to the lookout there is a track to the left which takes you a short distance down to a spectacular water hole in the river. Access to the water is easy. There is also a river walk which runs between the camp ground and the lookout.

Great views of township and all the surrounding mountains. Really quiet and peaceful picnic spot. Amenities available.

Whilst on the Fossickers Way we had to stop here of course. Some great memorabilia and the volunteers added so much info. There is also some Banjo Paterson history! Some nice leather goods for sale. It's simply good history. Tks very much!
