Sasaran Beach

Reviewed By DWELSingapore

We did the Sky Mirror tour with Fun Life at Selangor again and we set off at the Sky Mirror jetty at about 10 am. The timing varies every month based on tide timing. We thought the Sasaran sand strip or sandbar will be crowded as such tour can be done only several days a month during the new & full moon periods.. We were surprised to see a vast sandbar or sand strip that seemed to stretch far & beyond, no wonder the locals called it the Sasaran beach. Fun LIfe's boat captain & photographer were extremely patient and experienced. We spotted several dolphins to & fro the journey to the Sasaran sandbar. There was no rush throughout the duration of our photos to catch the sky-mirror effects. Every boat comes with a very experienced photographer (there were 4 Fun Life at Selangor boats that day) and we spent a solid 2.5 hours at Sasaran Sky Mirror. Fun LIfe at Selangor boats looked new and appeared to be well maintained and their life jackets were relatively new too. Communication with Ms Ng, the co-owner of the family-run tour, was very easy & she is always prompt & clear in her replies. She even sent us the details on what to expect, where to park, the maps of Kuala Selangor and what to bring prior to our trip. You will need to provide your passport details for insurance purposes as regulated by the local tourism board for the safety and security of visitors 3 days before the visit. We strongly recommend a trip to Kuala Selangor - the shops & streets of this fishing village still very much retains its old kampung charm.

Lord Murugan Statue

It's a temple in which I felt peace and quiet, kinda goes well with my beliefs. There are so many stairs to the top, but it's worth it. The great statue is one of a kind! The art, the culture, which you can see live, because people come and visit, they hold ceremonies also. Monkeys are all over the place and they sometimes steal stuff from your pocket (sooo funny). I think it's a must see place in Kuala Lumpur. oh! don't forget trying the coconut juice!

Sky Mirror

It was a last minute decision to join Sky Mirror tour with a local company called Fun Life since we were on a day trip to Sekinchan. This decision turned out to be the highlight of the day. Eric from Fun Life was very prompt with his replies and facilitated our trip. The boat captain ensure that the ride to and from Sasaran Beach was not only safe but exciting. It was fascinating to behold the vast sand bar appearing gradually in front of our very eyes, in the middle of Malacca Straits. The experience was nothing short of amazing. Our entourage of five would like to thank you, Ah Seng the photographer for his patience and creativity during the photo session and also the boat captain ( sorry, forgot his name) for ensuring that the tour was leisurely paced and enjoyable.......it made our day !????

Bukit Melawati

Reviewed By LauraT404 - Middlesbrough, United Kingdom

We visited Monkey Hill as the second stop of our "monkey feeding, fireflies & blue tears experience" with Jalan with M.K. We drove straight up and parked at the top of the hill as was after 5pm on a monday. Melawati Hill (Monkey Hill) is home to the silver leaf monkeys (black fur) who roam around this lighthouse viewpoint. Unlike the long-tailed macaques (gray fur) that can be quite aggressive and mischievous, the silver leaf monkeys (black fur) are actually really friendly and the babies, covered in orange fur, are super cute. Locals are there with bags of locally grown vegetables for you to purchase at 10MYR per bag to feed the monkeys, which we highly recommend. The bags are large but the monkeys soon eat through all the food! The monkeys liked the green leaves and bananas, but sweet potato definitely seemed to be the favourite! the peanuts they would only eat after everything else had already been eaten. We were here another 30 minutes or so. Feeding the monkeys was an experience! be prepared for them to climb all over you as you start to feed them! we got some amazing photos. Some hilarious ones too as they jumped on our shoulders! lol Seeing the babies was an added bonus, and we were the only tourists so had the monkeys all to ourselves! I could have spent ages here watching the monkeys interact, but we had to move on with our tour.

Kampung Kuantan Firefly Park

Reviewed By travellert_12 - India, null

After reading some reviews on TripAdvisor, we decided we would not take a tour and instead do this activity individually. We booked a metered taxi for 300 RM which would include round trip to and from Selangor to our KL hotel. Now one thing that you need to know here is that Selangor has two activities that you must do. Sky Mirror which happens only in the morning and firefly activity which only happens in the night. So if you have time, try and cover both in a day. I learned this only when we reached KL and hence had to skip Sky Mirror activity which I was really eager to do. Back to the review: We reached the village around 6 PM and were recommended to do the eagle feeding activity followed by the firefly show which starts at 7:30PM. So for a price of 120 RM we booked these two activity. Now the good thing which happened was that we did not waste any time waiting for the boats. We immediately went for the eagle feeding trip which is basically watching birds dive down and catch food/fish from the lake. It was nice to watch so many birds (white birds) + eagles perform their trick. Post which we were transferred to other boat and we left to watch the fireflies. Now this is a sight to behold. Thousands of fireflies are visible twinkling within the bushes. It almost looks like a Christmas decoration with twinkling lights. It was absolutely amazing since I haven't seen so many fireflies at one spot before. A must do for nature lovers :)
