The 6 best Specialty lodgings in Bloemfontein, South Africa

May 13, 2023 Nobuko Falco

Roughly translated as "fountain of flowers," Bloemfontein is known as the City of Roses, both because of the abundance of the blooms throughout the city and the annual festival dedicated to the flower. As the seat of the South African Supreme Court, the city is the judicial capital of the country as well as the provincial capital of Free State. Several sports teams and stadiums also call the city home, and its many museums outline the history of the region.

Rhino Creek Estate

stop over

Reviewed By sprior377812

The road to the estate was in shocking condition, yes they had had a lot of rain, but I was grateful to be in a 4x4. There was a member of staff there during the night who never approached us to ask if everything was ok, instead he and another, I presume member of staff, stood talking very loudly to one another for a long time in the evening. The room was fine and probably clean, but didn't feel like it. There were stains on the sheet of the double bed and the mattress was soft and sinky. The whole room needs more than a face lift. Damp in the walls, pipes sticking out, door to bathroom hanging badly on a rail and not closing etc. The list is long, suffice to say although the setting was pretty, it was completely over priced for what was offered, and I should have been warned about the condition of the road.

Disappointed is an understatement

Reviewed By Ingrid J

When we arrived there was no one at reception. Had to phone and was told the kitchen help/ worker will help us so we went to look for her. We arrived just after 17:00 and I did inform them beforehand. In the room there was no teaspoons, only one plastic stirrer and no milk. Not even creamer. No one to address this to. The towels has reached its sell by date a long time ago. Bathroom is beautiful but unpractical - no place to hang towels and no shelf in the shower. One chair in the room and 1 plastic chair outside. I am not sure how this was rated the best guest house in Bloemfontein.
