The 6 Best Scenic Railroads in Napa Valley, Napa Valley

October 28, 2021 Timmy Ribble

Vines, wines and the people who love them are central to the economy of Napa Valley. Other treats for taste buds are in store, too, in the form of local olive oils, tomatoes, cheeses and mustard. The other senses are catered for with a vibrant visual arts scene. Rent a car or book a taxi or limousine to get between sights safely. The Napa Valley Wine Train offers an unusual way to experience the views and vintages. A relaxing array of spas and mud baths and the Old Faithful geyser are attractions in Calistoga.

A legacy is handed down over time, through family and tradition. And lots and lots of wine. Robert Mondavi. Charles Krug. V. Sattui. The legacy of these Italian families represents a combined winemaking history of more than 300 years. And some very fine vintages. Some say this is where it all began. And this is where your journey begins.

Inclusions: 4-Course Napa style meal, Coffee and/or Tea, Welcome taste of sparkling wine, 1-hour each, tour and tasting at Mondavi, Charles Krug and V. Sattui

Exclusions: Gratuities, Alcoholic drinks (available to purchase), Souvenir photos (available to purchase)

The trip itself was pretty exciting for the first half and then it got boring. The scenery isn't really great either if you're on the side viewing over the highway. The dinner option might have been better with the night view and the evening atmosphere and all that. My folks liked it anyway. I'd give it a better score when it comes to the memories one is able to retain from the trip. If you want to get discounts (seniors, military, etc.) you must book over the phone. I got screwed over on this because the reservationist failed to mention that fact and I booked online where discounts apparently don't apply. Credit card transactions can't be refunded after the fact so check up on the payment before proceeding.

This tour exceeded my expectations. I hesitated due to the price, but am so glad I decided to make the splurge. It was well worth it, the staff was fantastic, the winery choices were perfection and it made my 40th birthday one to remember. Thank you!

LOOK NO FURTHER! THEY WILL EXCEED YOUR EXPECTATIONS Our Napa, Alcatraz, Russian River Valley and Yosemite experience with Golden Horizon. Napa Valley has been on our bucket-list for a while, we finally made it to Napa, and we stayed at Solage resort located in northern Napa Valley. The hotel is very elegant and located in a peaceful location near Calistoga. As for sightseeing, we booked multiple private wine tours with Golden Horizon Travel. Our awesome tour guide, Adam, took us to new and exclusive wineries each day, in and around Napa Valley. We also had a wine and food pairing in Sonoma and Napa Valley. The wineries we visited and the wines we had exceeded our expectations. With Adam, we felt like travelling with a friend, he never finished the tour as scheduled, he always added more time to our daily trips and made us feel like a family. We were really glad to book multiple private tours with this company, we had a hot air balloon ride scheduled during the weekend, but we could not fly due to wind and weather conditions. However, the next day, we took off from Yountville, and had one of the best sunrises ever. It’s an exciting and fun experience. Adam is an expert photographer and took a lot of beautiful photos of us, he later shared them with us. This was an amazing experience we will never forget. We wanted to see the big redwood trees and decided to skip Muir Woods and visit the Russian River Valley wineries and Redwoods. The choice of wineries there was a great fit for our taste, we visited DeLoach, Gary Farrell and Merry Edwards Winery. We love pinots and enjoyed awesome wines there. Last, we spared one more day to visit Yosemite national park during our stay in the Bay Area. We had a long day private trip with a nice tour guide, his name is Gerard. He was kind enough to take us on a hike to see the big sequoias after visiting the Yosemite Valley. We are surprised by the beauty and majesty of Yosemite, but a one-day trip doesn’t do justice to Yosemite - I recommend at least 2 or 3 day. Our last day took us from Napa to Alcatraz, and then, we got dropped off at SFO and then flew back home to Guatemala City. Thank you for the memories! We highly recommend this travel company and Adam; you won’t be disappointed. \ Ramiro A. and Irma Lopez
