Rankin Lake Park

I love going to this park in the mornings to ride my motorized scooter around the 1.5 miles lake (I'm disabled). VERY relaxing and peaceful. The path is paved, flat, very easy to navigate, wide enough for people to pass, and very picturesque. The park is about 250 acres, within the city of Gastonia, and very easy to get to. There are picnic shelters along the lakeshore with gorgeous views of the water, corn hole and horseshoe pits, disc golf course, wooed trails, open meadows, kayaking, fishing, canoeing, etc., Very clean, well maintained, beautifully green/flowery, and safe. Would highly recommend!

George Poston Park

We were here for a tournament, and discovered what a nice park this is. It has four lighted soccer fields and four lighted baseball fields, plus a playground and a really cool new "pump track" for cycling enthusiasts. It also has a volleyball court, 2 covered picnic shelters, miles of hiking-biking trails, a paved greenway, a fishing lake with pier, a dog park and even a concession stand. The park is neat, clean, well maintained and attractive. It's a gem in Gaston County.

You can walk this small park and then cross Franklin Blvd and do the Cotton Thread Trail. Great for exercise and to enjoy the trail, easy to park and its free. We try to go there once a month or more.
