Wedding at Inn on the lake.

Reviewed By 921StevenB

My husband and I, 3 years ago went on a search for a scenic venue to get married. We had our show around with the manager Gary and was immediately sold. Nothing else would compare to this idyllic venue. Several wedding meetings later, our wedding coordinators Kerrie, Tom and Jon organised the most impressive and perfect day of our lives. Truly professional in every way, warm friendly and accomodating, but they also had the courage to stand up to suppliers who would attempt to change details not in our best interest. They are truly like family to us and for whoever is currently reading this, I promise you choosing them will be the best decision of your life, even more so than your new spouse. ? Thank you Inn on the Lake. Tom and Steve

My holiday to the lakes

Reviewed By vstock679958

Planned to visit the Lake district and move daily to other lakes and areas returning to a base each day. This did not pan out as expected as we found the roads too busy and narrow for extensive travels and so decided to remain in Glenridding and hike out as often as possible. James the "Jack of all Trades"assisted us greatly with his knowledge and professional service. His tireless efforts to make us comfortable are greatly appreciated. The staff shortage at this lovely old hotel is going to impact the commercial success soon unless changes are made.

YHA Helvellyn

YHA Helvellyn is a traditional hostel in a unique location - 963ft up the third highest mountain in England, in the most beautiful national park in the UK! It is an ideal base for starting your adventure and the perfect place for peace, quiet and easy access to scenic landscapes for walking holidays, activity breaks and school trips. The hostel is good for mountaineers and walkers with the Helvellyn range literally on the doorstep. Mountain bikers will also be entertained with the longest downhill ride in the country from summit of the mountain! In the winter months there is a ski slope with a drag lift 40 minutes walk (or ski) away from the hostel and we are the closest accommodation to some of England’s greatest snow and ice climbing. There is also plenty to do for those that wish to relax or have children with them, with plenty of low level and less strenuous walking starting right from the front door!

Amazing

We had a great time at Helvellyn youthhostel with very friendly, welcoming and knowledgable staff. The place is clean, tidy, and the spotless selfcatering kitchen had the basics we needed. There is choice of different areas to chill, and personally I loved the allowance of cafe users and selfcateters to mix. In some hostels this is seperate and I have always found this unnecessary, undignified and annoying. Helvellyn is a great base for walking, running, and in our case: excellent spots nearby for swimming and paddleboarding. Thank you for a fab break!

Amazing stay!

Reviewed By KTL3y

Slightly delayed review sorry but stayed here over the August bank holiday weekend for two nights and had an amazing time. We loved Glenridding House and cannot wait to return. Host Lynne was so friendly and helpful. We stayed in Place Fell room, one of the best rooms we have ever stayed in, it was huge and immaculate, the bathroom was larger than most hotel rooms and the bath amazing! Bed was so comfy and you could watch the boats sail past with your morning brew in bed! The balcony was huge and sat in the sun with the complimentary prosecco (book direct!) after a long day’s hiking in the fells was just perfect. Our first break away in over a year and couldn’t have chosen a better place. It was like a piece of tranquil heaven away from the madness of the busy Lakes. The grounds are huge and the closest stay to the lake possible. Plenty of room for free parking which is another bonus in the Lakes. Breakfast was delicious (smoked salmon and eggs and full English) and Lynne happily gave us more tea to fill our flask. Cannot fault one thing about this beautiful place. With covid still around we didn’t fancy a large hotel packed with people so with just five rooms in total, this could not have been more perfect, we only saw two other couples the whole of our stay. Thanks Lynne, we will be back!

A fabulous cosy stay

Reviewed By Sally G

This B&B is very clean, friendly, cosy and showers are amazing. The owner was very accommodating regarding our dietary requirements and the veggie breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever had. We never ate in the attached cafe, but I have no doubt it was also excellent. The location was superb for those wishing to bag a few Wainwrights - Helvellyn, Catsty Cam and Place to name a few. You can hike straight from the front door and can also access water sports facilities on Ullswater within a very short walk.
