This is one of my favourite places in the world for truly great beer. Always a good range on tap (including sours and darker styles) and a truly amazing selection of beers in the fridges. The staff are friendly and knowledgable, and they also have board games available to while away the hours. And in the evenings you can now you can get the boys to order you an excellent pizza from Alimentari next door, sliced and delivered hot to your table. Highly recommended.

Smith Street

I’m sure some might complain over the last two decades on development and gentrification but Smith now feels safer. Fantastic down-to-earth vibe, ‘normal’ people and wide range of shops to cater for bodies, tummies or eyes. Remains my go-to when visit inner north Melbourne.

Whilst walking to the MCG we decided to drop in for a few beers and were pleasantly surprised with Stomping Ground. It was cold outside but was nice and warm inside, were greeted with a warm hello and provided some good information on the range of beers. Gipps St Pale Ale was very enjoyable as was the Archfiend 2018 Belgian Golden Strong Ale, that was a good representation and close to a Leffe Blonde, good job. We unfortunately ran out of time and will plan to return one day on our return to Melbourne as the Pizza’s looked great. What a terrific venue and enjoyed a good chat with Chris who is a very experienced brewer and beer officianado.

Robert Burns Hotel

Reviewed By U8852BOjohns - Melbourne, Australia

We visited knowing that the hotel, for decades a beloved strongly Spanish-themed venue, was under new management. Our low expectations vanished when, having ordered classic pub fare, the Sunday roast arrived: generous cuts of pork or beef, with a variety of crisply roasted vegetables. No grey meat or gluggy gravy! Attentive service from Gabrielle and an affordable wine list rounded out a very satisfying Sunday lunch experience.
