Captiva Chapel By-The-Sea

We arrived in Florida on Jan. 2 and visited this Chapel quite often during our 6 weeks on Captiva. When we first arrived it had the Christmas lights and so are walks at night were rather magical. A very comfortable place to see and walk around on our way to the beach!

Captiva Beach

Reviewed By ttbarlow11 - Minneapolis, United States

Beach is very clean, quiet and relaxing. Lots of seashells on the beach. It is walking distance to coffee shops and small food places. The parking is very limited- the parking lot only fits approx. 20 vehicles. We ended up parking in a lot that belonged to an resort and it was a 8 minute walk to the beach (you aren’t suppose to park there, but the resort parking attendant allowed us to park there). I recommend this beach and I would come back again! It’s about a 30 minute drive from fort meyers. The drive is beautiful, and lots of scenic points to stop and take pics of.

We had lunch at The Bubble Room on Captiva Island and walked up the street to see this gallery. Very nice selection of wall hangings, sculptures, pottery, and glass by Florida artists. The prices were, I thought, legitimate for the quality of work. I will be looking into their website for possible additions to our Michigan home. Definitely check it out.

The Mucky Duck

This is a great little beach spot on the Gulf of Mexico on Captiva Island, Fl. We went twice this week while on vacation. The onion rings may be the best we have ever had. I also recommend the shrimp tacos. The Bloody Marys are fabulous. The drill here is order indoors and eat on the beach. Lots of Adirondack chairs and picnic tables available. Palm trees provide shade and the Gulf provides a breeze. There is also indoor seating. We look forward to this every year.
