I had a few hours to spare when last in Taipei so I visited the Lin family mansion and this used to be one of the major landmarks in its hey day. Lovely gardens and paths with classical old residences. I wouldn't say its drop dead impressive but glad I visited all the same. There is an NT$80 (US$2.50) entry fee. To get there get of the MRT at Fuzhong station (Blue line station6). Walk along Fuzhong road and turn right on Wenchang road then left at Ximen street. The mansion is only a minute walk from there. In closing I also liked the fact that the crowds were small and the few that were there can easily be avoided as the grounds are quite large. Hope this helps.

Great spot to take kids and enjoy getting into the Christmas mood with a light spectacular....for free! Conveniently located outside the metro station by MegaCity Mall, New Taipei City. Lots of photo opportunities,, twinkling lights, Christmas trees, stage and small amount of vendors. Kids loved it!!

Banqiao Station has come up in the world, it looks both bright and functional. You can buy High Speed Rail (HSR) tickets and also tickets for trains going down the island. You can access the Circular LIne. Be warned, the Blue Line MRT station is quite a long way away. However, there are many eateries to keep the worms from biting.

A huge mall located in front of Banqiao Mrt station and mostly with high end brands. The basement is for the food outlets with lots of choices but of course Chinese cuisine.
