Country style with special theme room
Reviewed By FourEIt is a great place to stay if you are in that area. The owner do a lot to the lodging by his own hands. Each room has a different theme. The decorations are very eye catching. The rooms are very tidy, neat & comfortable. The owner & the staffs are very friendly.

Reviewed By cindyonline去美濃跑馬拉松，入住離會場開車約十分鐘的涵園。環境非常安靜，房間也很乾淨。由於無法吃到早餐，我們預約了晚餐，老闆娘手藝很棒。下午提早抵達，老闆娘還招待我們吃了一些點心。非常愉快的住宿體驗。

Reviewed By GodolinusUn lieu extraordinaire dans une belle maison Hakka. Très belle chambre décorée avec goût. La nuit on entend l’eau s’écouler dans les canaux d’irrigation, les grenouilles croasser et les oiseaux chanter. Le propriétaire étant un ancien DJ, il a une magnifique collection de vinyles, le soir on se couche en écoutant les Stones et le matin on se réveille avec Beethoven.

It's time for Lonely Planet to review its content and remove the entry of recommendation for Jhong Jheng HuB&B
Reviewed By ztozeeDespite being featured in Lonely Planet, I certainly think that Jhong Jheng Hu B&B doesnt deserve an entry. My family wanted to visit Meinong Hakka Village and placed a reservation with Jhong Jheng Hu B&B for 2 rooms a month ago before we set off. However, when we reached there, we were told that there was only one vacant room left. This was certainly a great displeasure and we find it extremely unreasonable as the booking was confirmed a month ago. As such, the five of us were made to squeeze unwilling into a room that was meant for two. The room allocation was already a big turn off. To make matter worse, halfway through the night, the aircon in the room was spolit and was leaking water. We complained to the boss and was given another room (not sure why he claimed there wasn't any other rooms initially). However, the new room wasnt much better. The toilet stinked and we had to put up with the stench for the whole night. The next morning, the lady boss appeared apolgetic and said she would make up for us. She said in Mandarin, "As part of the compensation, we (she and her husband, the boss) would give you a discount and arrange 2 rooms for you all today. To add on, my husband would chauffeur you all around. At the end of the day, all you need to do is to give us a small fee, determine by you all as you deem fit, to cover the petrol costs". We thought it was a good offer and they were sincere to make up for us and accepted the offer graciously. The boss did drive us around thereafter. But being a laidback area, there wasnt much chauffeuring to be done. At the end of the day, he demanded NTD1,000 from us which wasnt agreed upon initially. It's not that we werent willing to pay but NTD1,000 seemed a bit too much for their lacklustre service. We were already quite disgusted by their service and didnt really bother to argue with them. On day three, it was finally for us to leave the horrible place. We wanted to hail a cab but the bosses offered to drive us to Kaohsiung Railway Station instead. We were really in any good mood and took up the offer. At the end of the ride, the boss told us to pay him NTD1,000 for the ride. We werent very sure with the rates and paid him accordingly. Yet, a check with the railway staff thereafter told us the ride by a cab would at most be only around NTD800. What a bunch of dishonest people and money-grabbers! Totally disgusted by their service and it's the only destination in Taiwan that left a bad impression.
