Stiftskirche St. Bonifatius

The church of St Bonifatius in the town of Freckenhorst (part of the city of Warendorf) dates back to 1129, and is arguably one of the most important churches of that period in Westphalia. Among many religious objects the most prominent one is the baptismal font, carved out of stone, one of its kind in Germany.

Nordrhein-Westfalisches Landgestut Warendorf

Warendorf is a small town of around 30,000 people, fortunately untouched by war. The medieval town centre is wonderfully preserved dating back hundreds of years. Know for its rich horse riding The walking tour is worth doing as it will give a better knowledge of the history of this North Rhine-Westphalia area of Germany. Warendorf is easy to reach by train or plane via the nearby larger city of Munster. Lots of cycling in both cities.
