The drive down the coast from Rijeka is so spectacular, we keep stopping to take photos(see). Then, we stop for lunch in Senj, where we meet Marco, a relaxed dog with care-free attitude(see). Soon after leaving Senj, we run into a large sign along the road, announcing the sanctuary and rescue center. I remember that the island of Cres is famous for the existence of the Griffon vultures, a very rare and endangered bird. Needless to say, we stop and have a look at the extraordinary creatures. Admission is Kuna 30 (about $4.50) which is high compared to other attractions in the area, but this is a private rescue center and I can see how much they need the funds.

Prva Draga Beach

We stayed for few days in Senj, and were advised by our host to go down to Prva Draga beach...
Kind of small, crowded, so we went left passed by some large rocks and enjoyed smaller areas with less swimmers and smaller rocks...
For first time in Senj, not bad, but noting special...

Suncanik Sculpture

Reviewed By Linda B - Raleigh, North Carolina

We had no idea we would be passing across the 45th Parallel. There a great monument and signs indicating you are standing half way between the Equator and the North Pole. I don't have an address for it but I'm sure anyone in the town would be able to point you in the right direction. It's right on the water and you can see the Fortress across the bay to the south. Would love to leave a photo and will if this is approved without an address.
