If you want an white nature experience you will never forget go for a winter daytrip to the Silvretta reservoir. It’s organised in a perfect way: take the Vermuntbahn lift from Partenen, at the mountain station Mercedes mini buses are ready for you: you can take luggage and skis with you. You don’t believe what you see: the bus is bringing you through the mountain in private tunnels, only as broad as the bus and forbidden to pedestrians, to the white and silent world of Piz Buin and the Silvretta Reservoir. Advertised as a two hour walk, we managed to circle the lake in one and a half hours without rushing. Mostly flat and usually close to lake - sometimes high on the ledge of a cliff - the walk is pleasant and you have views of the surrounding mountains. There are longer walks to alp huts and other villages but if you've come by car, you'd have to return the same way and some of these trips take a few hours one way. However, you can take a bus to Bielerhoehe.
4. Schneeschuhwanderung zum Silvrettasee
You can experience the winter idyll of the Silvretta mountains on a snowshoe hike to the Silvrettasee: surrounded by the majestic 3,000-metre summits of the Silvretta mountain range, this guided tour leads to the southernmost point in Vorarlberg to the beautiful winter backdrop at the Silvrettasee. The day begins early in the morning in Partenen with the ascent on the Vermuntbahn. The tunnel buses are already waiting at the summit station to take winter athletes through the narrow Vermunt tunnel towards the starting point at the Vermuntsee. After a comprehensive introduction, you and your local hiking guide will set off for the Silvrettasee at an elevation of more than 2,000 metres.
