The so-called "Red Beach" is not a beach but a delta covered with a type of small red plant over a vast area. Boardwalks are built into the area for tourists to get better view of this wonderful scenery. Instead trying to describe what we saw, I post a number of photos.
Visitors can climb the tower on the other side of the road to take in panoramic views, including patterns on cropland, made to look like a couple, a phoenix, etc.

Xinglongtai Beacon Tower

A building to notice if you are walking or driving around in this rapidly developing oil city. It has been built onto and re-purposed, but there are signs to show that it is recognized as part of the cultural history of the area. Not sure if it is Ming Dynasty or a beacon tower has been here since the Ming. Can someone translate the information in the photo?
