There is a little hike to get to the viewpoint for the waterfall, and the entire way up one can hear the birds and water all around. It is the most serene place for a getaway from the city and I would highly recommend it. It is much better in the monsoon season, when I visited with my family in January the waterfall was pretty sparse, but still beautiful lush greenery all around. We even spotted many beautiful birds on our way. You do not need a guide at all, as the way is straight and there are stairs built to guide you in the right direction. So if you wish to avoid the added expense then you can. Although it is a good 45-minute trek so it is not suitable for very young children or adults with weak knees.
