Jecheon (Korean pronunciation: [tɕe̞.tɕʰʌn]) is a city in North Chungcheong Province, South Korea. The city is a major railway junction or a transportation mecca, served by the Jungang, Chungbuk and Taebaek Lines. Jecheon has scenic surroundings and several tourist spots like the Uirimji Reservoir, Cheongpung Lake and Cheongpung Cultural Properties complex. It is also the home of Semyung University.

Urimji Lake is a good place to visit anytime of the year! Why? It's a good place to take photos with your friends and family. In the evening, there are many amateur photographers taking night photos of the Fountain and the artificial waterfall. You can walk along the lake or cross a bridge and walk
In the winter, when the lake freezes over, you can go ice fishing. (However, the locals don't recommend eating the fish in that lake.) If the weather is cold enough, the city builds an ice tunnel that tourists can go through for free.
In the spring, summer and early autumn, you can ride the swan-shaped paddle boats. There are a couple of cherry blossom trees around the lake. In the spring, viewing the cherry blossoms is a popular activity.
In the past two years, summer droughts have caused Lake Urimji to shrink in size. If you do decide to venture into parts of the exposed lake bed, be aware that some parts of it may be muddy. So bring an extra pair of shoes...just in case.
The best way to get to Urimji is to take bus #31 heading towards Semyung University. Get off at Urimji Hosu (Urimji Lake). On the weekends in the spring and summer, the traffic to Urimji can be heavy at time.

Cheongpung Cultural Heritage Complex contains artifacts collected from the region before it was flooded to form Chungjuho Lake after the construction of Chungju dam. Eungcheonggak, Hanbyeongnu Pavilion, and handful of Goryeo and Joseon era structures are the highlights of the complex. A small section of a fortress wall at the top of the complex provides some great views of Chungjuho Lake and the Cheongpung Cultural Heritage Complex. We were a week or two away from the fall colors reaching their brightest but the area was still colorful enough to make the trip worthwhile. The two museums housing the artifacts seem to have been neglected without much explanations and displays that looked to have been put together without much effort.

Woraksan National Park is a great getaway from the city. We took a car down there and stayed in a small family-owned pension. They even cooked us a nice meal of gamjatang (Korean beef and potato stew). In the park, there are many streams, Mountains, and restaurants.

A beautiful place to study surrounded by Mountains. You will get the taste of all four seasons in this beautiful university. There's a lake as well where you can take pictures, relax and spend time with friends and family. Local people often visit this place with their friends and family members. There's a place for concert as well which looks like Sydney Opera house.

How to get there:
From Danyang, there's a bus from Danyang-eup(district of Danyang-gun) to get off at Janghoinaru Ferry Terminal. And have to walk about 30 min more. Most visitors just drive their own cars or reach by private tour buses.
Climbing up:
It's an easy trail of 15~20 min until the branching point for Oksunbong and Gudambong. Oksunbong is the left way. And there's a long path downward which is tough to return. After that, there's a path to climb rocks. It's exhausting. But, the whole route from the starting point to Oksunbong Peak is just 30~40 min without resting. The height from the sea level is 286m. I think it's okay for healthy people of below 60 years old.
The view from the peak is magnificent. In October, you can see autumn foliage, ferry on the river and other peaks.
