The 5 Best Things to Do in Bucerias, Mexico

February 19, 2018 Frederic Celentano

Meaning “place of divers,” Bucerias on Mexico’s Pacific Coast is a charming antidote to the hustle and bustle of nearby Puerto Vallarta. You’ll meet the friendly locals and enjoy beautiful beaches, fantastic dining, outdoor activities and art galleries. Locals congregate in the small plaza in the center of town or head for the beach for some sun and unfettered mountain and bay views. Beyond the beaches of Bucerias, you’ll find superb dining, flea markets laden with special treasures, art galleries, and pubs. Once you’ve tired of the sun, meander through the flea market off the main plaza and tour the residential side of Bucerias, complete with boutique shopping and quality restaurants like La Quinta di Francesco and Adriatico. Some of the best art galleries in town include Splurge Art Gallery, showcasing emerging local artists and designer pewter. On Thursday evenings, participate in the local art walk, and on Sundays, visit the authentic Mexican market. From Bucerias, explore other Riviera Nayarit locations such as Savulita, Punta Mita and San Francisco – they’re all accessible by cheap, frequent bus service.

A ton of fun! Well organized! A great mix of artisans , cantinas, restaurants and bars. Staff, owners and artisans were very accommodating, informative, and complimentary as a community. Beverages and snacks were available. Plan on enough time to roam and enjoy.

Mega Comercial Mexicana

This is our 4th year shopping at Mega. It has most items that you buy at home. Ok the prices are a little higher on most items, but that happens when you want the good you are used too.
You can buy any thing at Mega from a stove to a donut. Their produce section is wonderful and the prices very reasonable.
Yes Mega has a new store right next door called Le Comer, it even has more items than Mega, minus a TV, Electronics dept.
Over all both stores are a go to place to shop.

Santuario de Cocodrilos El Cora

El Cora preserves local biodiversity through protection of and education about the ecosystems found in the Riviera Nayarit area. We offer educational tours that teach our visitors to see animals from a new perspective. By helping others understand the natural world around them, we think that people will better understand how their actions impact these places.

Must have your own vehicle or take a taxi as it is about a 2 mile walk off 200. It's a bumpy one lane road, a little exciting...Once we got there we were greeted by what appeared to be an intoxicated guide. He kept telling us the same things over and over before we even got started on the "tour". We finally told him with our three year old we want to keep it moving which he then complied. There was a few caged crocodiles and little crocs to hold. This is located on a river way and we were there at high tide so didn't see any crocs in their natural setting. We were told when the water was low, we would be able to see them. They also had a parrot, turtles and a couple other animals in cages to see. The guide did throw some raw chicken into the pond and the croc came towards it and ate it. This was impressive..There were also some other SMALL displays of eggs, small crocs...I saw on trip advisor that someone noted there was a river safari from the sanctuary. We did not see this. So maybe we were there in the off season (Dec 2017) or it doesn't exist anymore. Anyway I thought it was too much $$ for what we saw...and of course the guide wanted a tip at the end. The restaurant also wasn't open when we were there.

We actually spent most of the afternoon here after some awesome massages. I think we spent less than $50 USD each for 90 mins. The people were great and one of the managers Eddy came down to our condo in Terralta to pick us up and drop us back off. Great experience and one of the best massages I have had here in Bucerias.

We walked along the beach from Riu Vallarta and looked quickly at the statue then walked around and stopped in a coffee shop, quite a lot to do and see in Bucerias, the beach can be hard work to walk along but it is worth it when you gey there, and you have the return walk to look forward to.
