This small country in western Africa has become more popular recently as a beach destination for European travelers. It’s a relatively short flight, there’s no time difference, and lodging is generally very affordable. River Island National Park in Banjul is fantastic for watching wildlife (especially the native baboons).

We had a fantastic stay at Lemonfish and wished we could have stayed longer than the two nights we spent there. Hannie and her staff made us feel welcome and "at home" from the start. They are so friendly, smiling and easy-going! The guesthouse is simple (2 shared bathrooms, 4 twin rooms) but clean and very quiet. The walls are covered with African art (batiks and paintings). The sandy garden is very agreeable, with trees, flowers and sunbeds for you to relax on. The food is delicious. Do you know someone who claims s/he doesn't like vegetables? Bring them to Hannie's and they will change their mind! We also appreciated the fact that there was fresh fruit for dessert. We also liked the location of the guesthouse: on the way to the bird reserve of Kartong, where you can see many different species of birds. We recommend Hannie's guesthouse whole-heartedly, and hope we can come back soon! Céline and Michel

As far as I am aware, this is one of only two spas in the whole of The Gambia. We had the Moroccan hammam and it was amazing - a fantastic experience, followed by the foot massage overlooking the water - fab. Fantastic value and lovely staff - definately worth a visit

The Natural Culture and History Museum is the only indigenous natural, life, traditional medicine and cultural history museum in Gambia. It is located in the natural environment comprising the natural habitats for the remaining fauna and flora. This is the only museum where nature can be experienced and our guests can see our remaining tree and animal species.
Lamin the owner of this museum is a truly great guy. His passion for his country, his culture and his desire to learn from others and share his knowledge is intoxicating. An upcoming museum for sure and a definite place to see if you in Gunjur. Lamin and the museum curator work so well together, time just flies when you're there.
