I love this place and would say it is a must see if you are anywhere near by. We drove about an hour to see this and our family loved every minute of the walk around the castle, church and little village nestled in the cliff.

Beautiful structure, with beautiful views over the Lot River & surrounds. A perfect start for investigating the beautiful City of Cahors. You can walk around the river from the bridge to the Old Town.

Chateau de Cenevieres

Super panorama overlooking the Lot River Valley. Medieval castle from 8th, 13th and 16th century. Gardens and interior in a guided tour, quite often with a member of the owner family. Chapel, donjon, jail, renaissance paintings including Les Métamorphoses d'Ovide and views of ancient Constantinople.

My partner and I were very lucky to have had such a detailed, thorough and exclusive tour of the chateau with our guide Xavier. He was kind enough to work later than usual in order to give us a tour in English. Our tour was filled with detail of the smallest kind enabling us to capture this castle in its prime, very interesting!

Bourg Medieval de Saint-Cirq Lapopie

This ia a wonderful historic small town perched high on a cliff above the river below. The original building was probably the castle/fortification, again perched on high, now a ruin but still very evident. The town consists of several very steep streets dotted with cafes and 'tourist type' shops plus several decent restaurants. There is also a 'beach' and towpath below, popular with walkers - we did not visit due to time constraints. A welcome bonus bonus is the provision for parking which is ample in all areas.
