The 5 Best Playgrounds in Lanzarote, Canary Islands

December 14, 2021 Marianna Hollaway

Ahhh, Lanzarote: The Canary Island paradise where you can ride a camel into the sunset and then dine inside a candlelit cave. The rock formations of Los Hervideros will take your breath away, as will the views from the Mirador del Rio lookout point. Legend has it that locals would hide from pirates in the underground caverns of Cueva de los Verdes, which are now open to curious visitors. Above ground the Jardin de Cactus will teach you all about the spiny desert plants.

We decided to play here as a friend of one of our party lived in Lanza and did some organizing for us. As it got nearer the time to travel I think we were all a bit worried as to whether we had made the right choice. We need not have worried we did make the right choice. A few reviews on here are a bit ambiguous and left us wondering what the fairways and greens etc would be like, i will try and explain. The fairways are lush and cut to perfect lengths. The actual grass isn't broad bladed as you find in a garden or round a pool abroad it is more like grass you find in the British isles. The greens were receptive and true, they weren't lightning fast as you might expect to find on an island with hardly any natural water but weren't slow either. They do have patches of damage, some patched to repair some sanded. We didn't have any complaints (why people cant repair pitch marks though I will never know). The wind is a big factor on our first day it was blowing a gale on our last day it was breezy to still. To try and put a prerspective on it, between us we have played loads of courses, personally i've played Boston, The Mere, Rotherham, Fulford, rockliffe hall, the welcombe stratford and many more the ones mentioned are all very good courses and I have to say I enjoyed Lanzarote Golf as much as any of them. We had a beer every day and a snack once. The beer was fine as it was bottled the sandwiches we had were poor and expensive. We will be trying somewhere different next year but that is nothing to do with the golf course, we would visit again but not for a little while. Thanks for the memories Lanzarote golf we thoroughly enjoyed our time with you.
