The 5 Best Nightlife in Crossroads, Missouri (MO)

October 19, 2021 Vergie Nakamoto

The home of swing and bebop for some, "The City of Fountains" to others, Kansas City is different things to different people. Music enthusiasts are drawn to the jazz clubs and old haunts of famous musicians such as Charlie Parker and Count Basie. With more fountains than Rome, there is ample opportunity for scenic strolling from fountain to fountain. Stop along the way to discover interesting neighborhoods and browse through eclectic shops. Families are particularly attracted to the city because of its child-friendly events and venues. Science City features hands-on exhibits including a mock television studio where kids can deliver a weather forecast, while the Zoo houses impressive African and Australian exhibits plus an IMAX Theater. The city's museums cover everything from the history of jazz music to a celebration of African American baseball players. Once a trading post for pioneers heading to the Western United States, today Kansas City is a burgeoning metropolis with activities and attractions for visitors of all ages and interests.

Manifesto

Cool speakeasy in basement of the Rieger Hotel and restaurant. Entrance to the bar is located behind the restaurant in an alley. Recommend reservations for this popular (very) dark bar. Small space with a combination of bar seating, a few high top tables, a couple of booths and a few tables. Great friendly service and a large cocktail menu. Downside is that the temperature is very warm and it is so dark that reading the menu can be challenging. One of my friends took out his cell phone/flashlight and almost got accosted by a server. No cell phones allowed which is actually quite refreshing. Surprised that photos of interior were allowed. Suggest asking for the larger candle to assist perusing the menu. Servers checked on us several times during our visit. If you don’t have reservations, the hostess can text you/party if a table becomes available. Highly recommend this bar if you are in KC!

I loved this place so much I had to go back a second time before heading home. I love vintage arcade games because that's what I grew up on and turns out I'm still in #BeastMode when it comes to playing these games! From Ms. Pac Man to Tron and lots of pinball machines there is something fun for everyone. Music was turned up and great variety played throughout the night. Loved the large games like Connect Four that were at both outdoor patios and you simply have to head to roof patio/deck if only to check out views. Ice cold beers and plenty on tap and if you can handle the heat I highly recommend the Blanche margarita. Spicy just like the Golden Girl herself! If you want to just hang out with friends to relax and have a good time look no further than Up Down.

Swordfish Tom's

Reviewed By jlj3394 - Kansas City, United States

Swordfish Tom's is amazing from start to finish, the only possible negative is that it is constantly busy and the capacity is limited. Of course that is a product of it being so damn good. If you want to walk right in and grab a drink some place, this ain't your bar. The cocktails are all amazing. I have no clue how they come up with some of them - the flavors and ingredients are just so unique - but they are all tasty. If you're more of a traditional cocktail drinker, just ask - she (the owner/bartender) make you anything you want. The prices are right in line with craft cocktails in KC in the Crossroads/Downtown/Rivermarket. The atmosphere is great for a date or a group of friends - very intimate, yet very comfortable and with plenty of conversation pieces. Cash only. You'll likely have to wait, but the wait is well worth it.
