Cypress Wetlands

Pretty little cypress swamp that too many people miss. Quiet, gentle walk around and through a stunning cypress swamp. Not a long trail, but worth the time . The rookery is amazing ! Fat bullfrogs, ibis, cormarents, turtles, turtles and more turtles and alligators. Hidden alligators and alligators inplain sight. alligators you are standing literally over and dont see til they move. Really a great spot ! Kids and adults would love it. I can see why so many proposals happen here. This is such a quaint little spot with so much natural beauty its hard to believe its a stone throw from the Base and the industry. Even the tiny little amitheater is a great spot to people watch .

The Sands

This spot has several interesting things to do... 1. the boardwalk over the water affords a great look into the water and back to the shore. Several people were fishing along the way. A very nice stroll. 2. The 4 story watch tower gives amazing views of the water, marsh, boardwalk and shore. 3. The beach nearby has tons of shells, and even some sea glass and sharks' teeth for those who like to beachcomb. We even found a couple white sharks' teeth, which are quite rare finds normally. They say people go to the beach there and swim in summer... but it seemed like I would want shoes because of the shells. A great spot!
