A rare gem of a family getaway

This welcoming farm has the atmosphere of a happy, fun home with the added benefits of being relaxing, beautiful and sophisticated. The rooms are lovely, with every amenity. We hiked, we rode horses, we had lunch by the lake, we swam and we rested. The food is spectacular and you look forward to every meal. Kids are so well-accommodated and they love the feeling of freedom that the farm offers. Close enough to Joburg for a 2 night getaway. This is a truly special place, and we look forward to many repeat visits. Thank you for having us!

Stayover times two

On our way from Polokwane to the Southcoast we decided to stay over at the Green Lantern Inn – and what a great experience! The place oozes character and charm and is steeped in history! We were mesmerized by all the antique furniture and the 1931(?) motorbike! So much did we enjoy staying over at Green Lantern Inn, that it became our logical choice on our way back to Limpopo. Although we never had breakfast, we had dinner from a Ala Carte Menu, which was great. Rooms are basic, but clean and comfy, with Aircon when needed - some rooms have only showers, others only baths. Green Lantern Inn is well priced, some way of the busy N3 in a tranquil setting. Staff at reception was friendly and very helpful, so was the waiters and the barman. Will we stay over next time? You bet we will!

Oban Guest Farm

Our Motto: WHERE FRIENDS MEET AND TIME STANDS STILL. Rustic and homely "Farm Style Accommodation" lying on the northern slopes of the Escarpment halfway between Johannesburg and Durban. Only 6.5 Km out of Van Reenen on the De Beer's Pass Road. Oban has been going since the beginning of the Century with many re visits from former guests who regale us with special memories. A bird watchers joy . A variety of animals entertain both young and old alike.Children love the animals and our "Orphans" love them. Pet friendly rooms available. Pensioners qualify for a discount. Our breakfasts are real farm style affairs that give you a great start for the day. As we are not licensed guests are free to bring their own alcohol in need and make use of the 3metre fridge in the bar area. Grab a book from the shelves, put your feet up, chill, this is where you turn the clock back and enjoy getting back to basics. Camps, Conferences and Weddings welcome.

We were on the way back to the South Coast from Pretoria and decided to break the trip. Oban was a good place to stay. Steven met us and helped us to our room. He prepared a tasty home cooked meal for us and a great log fire in the lounge. Our room was very clean, comfy and warm. Breakfast was good and they serve the best homemade marmalade made by Kim, the owner.

Pyramids Motel

Little jewel next to N3

Reviewed By Joke D

What an interesting place to sleep over between Jhb and Durban. The view is magnificent and Lucas, who was at the time receptionist, barman, waiter and cleaner, did an absolutely amazing job. Even though he was running around he did everything in his power to make us as happy and comfortable as possible. The pyramid chalet is small but comfortable. Bathroom very small but ok for us. Will definitely stop there again.

Wyford Farm

Clean, friendly, spacious

Reviewed By Beeth0veen

It was a booking at the last minute and was set for challenges. Pleasantly it was really good. No fuss with bookings, Great value. Unit was well payed out and plenty of space. Shower was average no requires some attention. Parking perfect, views fantastic and hosts very friendly. Not offered but suspect if they did a mini breakfast they would clean up. The units are self catering and hit the spot. Will visit again.
