Tynwald Park

Level playing fields for football, cricket, soccer etc. A basket ball hoop off to the side, to add to the entertainment, a cricket cage for practice, exercise equipment, a kiddies safety cycle road set up, a great kids play ground, picnic and bbq facilities, gazebos, toilet facilities, a surrounding walk track, lots of parking, situated right beside kms of river walk tracks, dogs allowed on a leash.. this place ticks all the boxes. Nice to see the new bridge beside the park to allow access to the town side of the river after the last was washed away in flooding. Hats off to New Norfolk council for this great park!

Ok, full transparency, the Drill Hall is in my neighbourhood. But that doesn't stop me being continually delighted by its beautiful curation, interesting collection and straight up style. I drop in often to have a browse and a poke around. No visitor escapes a visit and most leave with extra luggage. New Norfolk has more than its share of antique shops, but the Drill Hall Emporium is head and shoulders above the rest. It continues to delight and surprise, and show how great retail experiences will always trump online. And don't miss their hand poured candles. They will be a wafting reminder of the best day of your life.

Willow Court Antique Centre

I’m a Tasmanian but travel to New Norfolk every couple of years just to look at what’s available at this HUGE antique store. It holds so much stock you could stay for an hour going from room to room. It’s the best and varied shop that I’ve ever visited. It has not only antiques but new items too. If you’re over 50 you’ll find and reminisce about the reminders of our childhood. if you’re near New Norfolk you’ll love this shop and very likely find a treasure within your budget.

Pulpit Rock Lookout

Definitely a great short trip option from Hobart to check out the awesome view of New Norfolk and Derwent river. It is about 35 mins drive from Hobart city centre. There is a section of narrow road before you reach the lookout point, and there is a signage saying only light vehicle are allowed to go through. There isn't any clear directional signage to point you to the lookout point but it is pretty straight forward if you follow Goolemap.

If you have the time and are inclined to visit markets then this country town market is right up there with the biggies, like Hobart's Salamanca Markets. Take a stroll down the main street, meet the friendly stall holders and head off home with a good feeling, lots of bargains and a big smile.
