Surf Ballroom

Reviewed By Aerowing - Monee, United States

The Surf Ballroom was on my bucket list for a while. They’re only open from Memorial Day until Labor Day. Luckily I called them in October and was told I can come visit because they were having a wedding that day. Cool! First off the people working here are super friendly, the most friendliest people I think I’ve ever met are in Iowa. That’s saying, they gave me full reign of the place. I was able to see and explore anywhere I wanted including on the stage and into the amazing green room. There’s tons of memorabilia everywhere on the walls, it’s truly a sight to behold. I love the look of the old booths along the wooden dance floor, so nostalgic. The list of musicians who have played here is endless. I would love to come for a concert someday. If you’re in the area I definitely, highly recommend coming here to check out a piece of music history.

Plane Crash Site of Buddy Holly

I went to the Surf and looked around. Then I drove out to the crash site. It's just Noth of town only a few miles. GPS will take you there and the entrance is marked by a giant pair of Buddy Holly glasses. It is a walk no vehicles allowed. It's a half mile out and a half mile back. It is worth the exercise!

There are two great reasons to visit Rookies: their burgers and their Bloody Mary! I don't consume either anywhere else! Bar side is fun but noisy. Restaurant side can also be noisy when crowded. An old brick building without acoustics. But it is a landmark that nearly tourist hits.

Lake Time Brewery

Reviewed By PowerTrippersTravel - Cocoa Beach, United States

Lake Time Brewery operates out of a large old house converted into a brewery. The atmosphere is cool and homey and the beers are great. We had a 10 beer flight and they have a lot of interesting beers. The Oreo Speedwagon beer was amazing so we ended up taking home a couple growlers. There was a nice mix here of people partying and people just relaxing. Lake Time Brewery is pretty conducive to either. Highly recommended. -The Power Trippers
