Marche (Italian pronunciation: [ˈmarke]), or the Marches /ˈmɑːrtʃɪz/, is one of the twenty regions of Italy. The name of the region derives from the plural name of marca, originally referring to the medieval March of Ancona and nearby marches of Camerino and Fermo.
