Its capital city is Donostia-San Sebastián. Gipuzkoa shares borders with the French department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques at the northeast, with the province and autonomous community of Navarre at east, Biscay at west, Álava at southwest and the Bay of Biscay to its north. The name of this place says it all 'Miramar' Palace, it certainly looks onto the sea, and what incredible view! It's the former summer residence of the Spanish queen Maria Cristina who spent her summers here for 40 years. It currently hosts the University Summer Courses and other special events. During the summer it opens at weekends for visits. In any case, it's worth just popping in for a stroll on the grounds and gardens to enjoy the magnificent views of the Concha bay.
