Itanagar(/ˌiːˈtɑːnəɡər/; pronunciation (help·info)) is the capital of the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. Itanagar is administered independently by a Deputy Commissioner and the police department functions under the charge of a Superintendent of police and the jurisdiction of Deputy Commissioner is referred as Itanagar capital complex. The new seat of Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly is located in Itanagar close to the newly built Arunachal Pradesh Civil Secretariat. There are three gates all round the old fort which dates to the 14 th to 15 th century constructed of bricks, ita in local language means bricks. The south gate is the easiest accessible which is accessed by a road going though the Raj Nivas, the governor's residence, Helipad, a school, Doordarshan Itanagar, and also a temple.
