Lough Gill

Lough Gill is a shallow lake with alkaline waters located on the western outskirts of Castlegregory in County Kerry.Ireland’s only toad, the natterjack, can be found at Lough Gill. The very shallow waters suit the toad and Lough Gill is recognised as one of the most important areas for natterjacks in Ireland supporting about two thirds of Ireland’s breeding toads.

Spent half a day with a leisurely drive around the lough with our first stop at Isle of Innisfree with a great view across the lough and plenty of walks. Highly recommended

Tobernalt Holy Well

Went with a pal early one morning. This is an amazingly beautiful peaceful place. The feeling of peace and tranquility was fantastic. It is visually gorgeous with a lovely stream flowing. It has the sense that this has been a place of healing for centuries. You can purchase candles to light at the various altars or simply enjoy the quietness of the place. Oh you will probably need to drive to it but if you do there are stunning roads beside the lake nearby. Enjoy and say a prayer for people visiting (and the odd reviewer)
