Andrija Wine Cellars

Real attraction of any wine, as well as the Andrija wines, cannot be discovered from their descriptions but through tasting and moderate drinking. To experience it, come to the Andrija wine cellars, int he vicinity of Our Lady's Shrine in Medjugorje. According to the charter oft he Bosnian king Tvrtko, 6 centuries ago the wine from Brotnjo, the heart of which is Paoča, was consumed on his court. Based on the found documents, our family tree can be traced back three centuries ago, despite a very difficult national history (around 1740). Growing and production of wine has always been our family tradition. Our old family cellar is still preserved as a remnant af an old Turkish fortress built int he 17th century, celebrating some time ago its 350th anniversary. The following is also interesting: pur grandfather Šimun Ćorić (1883-1938), spent about 12 years in military service, he deserved a big plot of land. His son Anrija continued that tradition in 1938, and since 1947 together with his wife Stoja. Whereas the tradition in his area was to offer wine on draught, Andrija and Stoja, among first wine producers in Herzegovina, have started wide planting of wine and bottling wine since 1960s. Continuing the family tradition, the family of Andrija Ćorić decided to build a new cellar in Paoča, with the capacity of almost half a milion bottles.Podrumi Andrija has about ten full-time employees. Apart from is own vineyard, the company buys off, the grapes of 220 subcontractors. Selecting thus the best quality grapes and with the newest equipment and well-known wine experets (enologist), achiev the best results in the production of quality , high-quality, archive, special wines and natural brandy what proves many awards of the internacional wine far. The selected wines are stored to mature ino ak barrels int he underground cellar, based on tradition and modern achievements, with all attention and patience necessary to produce it. Andrija wines- white, red and rose, are drunk in about 20 countries on three different continents. The wines are always accompained by delight and happiness, whether consumed at stone tables with food prepared under baking lid next to the vineyards, or in wine callars, or anywhere else int he world, as hospitality, sincere friendship and good wine connect most successfully.

W-O-W! An enchanting wineyard with the most amazing wine, delicious cheese & "prsut", and excellent service! Visited this place two years ago when Covid-19 was nonexistent. Let's hope we can have a revisit this year once the situation calms down. This truly is a "must stop" in Bosnia Hercegovina, no matter distance. Highly recommended.
