My name is Diego. I have a bachelor's degree in tourism and a master in social studies from the University of Guadalajara. I created this tour to introduce visitors to the history, culture and architecture of Guadalajara, my home city. Walking in the city's historic barrios, plazas and markets, you will discover its unique personality while learning how historical events have shaped its urban and social landscape throughout the centuries. You will also discover Guadalajara's fundamental landmarks, including: 1. The Cathedral 2. Hospicio Cabañas (home to the murals of Jose Clemente Orozco) 3. Mercado Libertad (the biggest indoor market in Latin America) 4. Chapultepec cultural corridor. Whether a family with children, a couple, a group of friends or a solo traveler, my tours are highly flexible/adaptable to meet your specific interests. By the end of our private walking tour (no groups!), you will have a wider understanding of Guadalajara and Mexico's past and present.

Inclusions: My services as a guide

In this private food experience you will visit 2 traditional, working-class markets to taste Guadalajara's most emblematic dishes: 1. Tacos de Barbacoa: shredded beef tacos with a unique mix of spices, 2. Torta ahogada: Mexico’s version of pulled pork, served in a salsa-drowned crispy sandwich, 3. Birria: a juicy and delicious hearty goat stew. Served with hand-made tortillas, lime, onions, salsa. Our experience will begin in San Juan de Dios, the biggest indoor market in Latin America and the ultimate food and shopping paradise! Here we will visit a taco stand that I’ve known since childhood to try barbacoa. We'll also try tortas ahogadas at the market's most traditional stand. Then we will visit Mercado Corona to taste the seasonal food products. As we explore, I will explain the origins of Mexican cuisine and the city's history. We will also admire the Cathedral and its surrounding landmarks. Finally, we will visit the 19th-century neighbourhood of Nueve Esquinas to try birria.

Inclusions: My services as a guide

Exclusions: Food NOT included. Please bring $200 mexican pesos in cash per person.

I had an amazing time with Alex and Moises! We did the colomitos hike and they ended up guiding us all the way to Las Animas since our group wanted to go. I was traveling solo and don’t speak a lot of Spanish, joined a tour with a few other people. A and M made it fun and easy! They speak great English and also taught me some Spanish. Very helpful, offering ideas on other things to do and how to do it inexpensively. They were very patient with the group, took lots of pictures, and adjusted to the needs of people for pace and how far we wanted to go. Don’t waste money on a different tour- join Alex and Moises and have an adventure!
