Shopping is plentiful in Bridgetown. The capital of Barbados offers duty-free shopping at cruise ship terminals and upscale boutiques on Broad Street. Additional activities include yachting, fishing, viewing cricket matches and the nightlife on Baxter's Road. For history, visit the Barbados Museum, National Heroes Square (formerly Trafalgar Square) and the oldest Jewish synagogue in the western hemisphere, as well as the house where George Washington stayed and the church he attended.

Are you craving a historical military-based adventure in Barbados? Have you ever wondered what military life was like during the colonial period? Then boy have I got a story for you! I was here to defend this gem of an island and it was nothing like what I would have expected as a soldier. My story is bittersweet, but nonetheless, has to be told. I want to tell you about the prison and the walk of shame I had to endure. About the services offered around the “Savannah” and all the joys that can be drawn from this area despite the hardships that have made it what it is. Join me by the Barbados Museum and Historical Society for a culturally rich journey into history. On this intriguing walking tour, I will show you the Garrison I lived in. The changes it has undergone. All the while paying homage to me by preserving my legacy.

Deborah is an A1 tour guide and tourism professional! I had a great afternoon walking through Bridgetown, learning of its history and the history of Barbados in general, and because Deborah is known everywhere she goes I also meet some locals. She answered all of my questions, even if not on topic, and has awesome energy. COVID procedures followed and Deb does everything to keep her guests safe, engaged, and comfortable. She loves what she does and it shows. If you're in Barbados GO ON THIS TOUR.

Myself and a friend had a fantastic food tour in January. Janelle was a fantastic guide. It was great to learn more about Barbados and Bridgetown in particular whilst trying out lots of local food enroute. We tried lots of new food and got an idea of what food you could buy where. It would be a great idea to do this tour at the start of your trip so you can try out local Bajan food and then know what to order in future. If you want to hear more about it, I talked about it on my podcast - Life in Barbados: A Year on a Parardise Island'.

I’m an adventurous foodie so to be honest I’d already tried many of the foods our guide Janelle introduced: Mauby, Flying Fish, Bajan baked chicken, sweet potato, etc. But it’s so much fun to discover what seem like “dives” or little hole-in-the-wall restaurants are actually institutions for the locals, learn what locals eat (and when), and be led around a new city. I never would have been able to discover the bustling center of food and commerce for everyday Bajans, and I wouldn’t have felt as comfortable there as I did after the tour. Our guide Janelle was super responsive and if she couldn’t answer a question she went and found someone who could. The tour was small (just 2 families) the day we went and it was about equally divided btw walking/history and eating (the walk was not very far though! In a good way). We started at 10:30 and we’re done around 2 and we stayed and shopped for about another hour. The tour ended with some amazing coconut ice cream from a place I never would have noticed. Overall I’d say the tour was on the expensive side (for a family) while Bajan food in general is very inexpensive, however it was a really fun, memorable day out and left us feeling like we had a better understanding of Bajan culture and the island, which is priceless.
