Perfect accommodation in the most charming of cities

Reviewed By Simon_D_UK76

My wife and I were fortunate enough to stay at Grosvenor Villa in Bath for two nights. One is instantly struck by the incredible architecture of the building, and the interior is strikingly beautiful. The bedroom could not have been more comfortable, with the luxury of a super king sized bed. The vista from the bedroom window affords the most stunning view of the city, which is a mere gentle stroll from the villa. The breakfast was perfect for our needs, and one couldn't wish to dine in more refined surroundings - it really makes for the most idealic start to the day. Richard was a wonderfully charismatic host, and we couldn't be more grateful for the opportunity to share his most resplendent of homes, if only for a short while. We very much look forward to returning.

Nice place but food disgusting

Reviewed By grant1234567890

Room and surroundings were nice but don’t eat there. The english breakfast I had was the most disgusting breakfast I have ever had. Bacon swimming in grease and the cheapest possible sausages you could possibly buy were raw. The staff just said we have cooked them for a long time and that is how they are. Cold in the middle, soft and squishy and pink says raw to me. Several people complained and no one ate the sausages. Tea bags must also be the cheapest bargain basement. Absolutely foul. I didn’t eat there again. Shame because the experience could have really nice

Weekend break to Paignton and Brixham

Reviewed By Neil B

My wife and I travelled by train to Paignton on the 16/10/2021 for a Saturday night overnite stay. We arrived in Paignton early Saturday morning about 10.30 and went straight to the sea front Commodore accommodation. As expected the room wasn't ready (14.00 advised) but we left the overnite bag with the owner , who greeted us very friendly. Agreed to take our bag to the room for us when ready and gave us the door security key fob which opens everything including outside door and room. With the sun shining we set of to catch the bus to Brixham, which are often and £5.00 day ticket each was great value. We had a great day in Brixham arriving back in Paignton about 20.00 and finally retired to bed about 22.00. On entering the room we found it well presented and our bag waiting and well stocked with toiletries and very nice sea view room from the Sir Francis Drake room. There is commodities available for breakfast in a shared kitchen area all very clean and well presented. However we decided to go to the Weatherspoons for breakfast which is 10 minutes slow walk away.

Staff are the key to this success

Reviewed By CPH19592013

We stayed at this inn with rooms for two nights and were joined by our family and friends. The rooms are comfortable, well equipped and spacious, the food is well above average and we loved the ‘old signs’ themed decor. But what brings this inn up to a 5 star rating is the staff. We were welcomed by Ella and throughout our stay she was friendly, helpful and in fact nothing was too much trouble. India and Esther served us breakfast with efficiency and humour and Kirsty was calm, efficient and speedy serving us for dinner. Behind the scenes Toby ( and probably other chefs) were cooking some fantastic food and generally we felt well looked after and pampered. One small thing, some of our party would have loved some fruit or yoghurt for breakfast. Certainly we would return again if only for a pint of Hedge Monkey!

Whitsun week - Boscatle 3 seaview

Reviewed By DeekyGee

Booked Sandymouth based on other Darwin escape resorts being so lovely. Check in was from 4pm, arrived at 3pm and the accommodation was ready. Welcome drinks was a nice touch in reception and the staff are really helpful and friendly. The park did not disappoint. The whole resort is immaculate. It’s very peaceful and all you can here is the sheep and the birds. The views are spectacular especially when the sun is shining. My sons aged 12 and 13 were a little old for most of the activities but I knew this before I came and booked based on location. It’s more suited to under 10’s. The pool is very small, no slides and too small for length swimming however still nice to have onsite with inflatables etc.. The boys enjoyed the pool table in the entertainment room too. The on-site shop was a bit of a disappointment. It’s just a fridge and a couple of shelves located next to the bar and reception. I’d recommend the local co-op in Kilkhampton, 5 minutes down the road or the bigger Sainsburys and Morrisons in Bude 10 minutes drive. The beach is 15 minutes down a fairly steep paved pathway but very doable. Sandymouth beach gets really busy so if you drive down go early as the parking fills up quickly. I’ve never seen so many dogs on a beach before, this for us is a little off putting but saying that it was clean. Lovely for rock pooling and body boarding. The Boscastle 3 seaview van was in a prime position with fabulous views. It only had 1 shower but 2 toilets. It was very clean and had a dishwasher and washing machine. The items I would like to have seen that were missing were; kitchen tongs, egg cups, placemats, oven glove, foot stool, microwave lid/cover, a hoover or mop bucket. Overall it was sufficient to live comfortably in for the week and I even managed cooking a full roast dinner. The best thing about the resort is it’s location and peacefulness. The park isn’t noisy or too overrun and busy. I would definitely recommend it for younger families; the splash park and the pirate ship are a great hit. We did the 3.5 mile south west coastal walk to Northcott Mouth and into Bude, passed Crooklets and Summerleaze Beach. This walk is wonderful. A bit zig saggy at Northcott but splendid. Eating out id recommend the Wayside Chinese and the Ape Pizza in Kilkhamptoom. Phone and place the order and then pick up; no deliveries. Also wonderful Sunday lunch in the Preston Gate Inn 5 minutes down the road. We would visit again simply for its location. It’s a bit out of the way but this is what we prefer.

We had a 3 night break away and are so pleased with our choice of places to stay. Couldn't have picked anywhere else that provided such beautiful quiet surroundings. Clean and comfortable with everything you could possible think of available. Sarah was very helpful and on 2 nights we ate in and ordered the meals which were brought to us - they were very tasty and plentiful and highly recommended. We loved the use of the pool and sauna and hope to book again next year if not sooner.

We were a family group of 5 staying in The Residence Eco Lodge number 62. The lodge was very well equipped with a spacious lounge/diner/kitchen. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, with the only caveat being how uncomfortable ? the lounge suite was, 4 adults of differing ages, stature and size and none of us found the seating comfortable at all. The site was very well looked after, with attention paid to the hot tub almost daily! The reception staff couldn’t have been more helpful, in fact all the staff were fabulous. My only real gripe was with the restaurant where we had breakfast one morning. My husband and I asked for poached eggs on toast with no avocado, what we got was 1 slice on unbuttoned undercooked toast with 2 eggs that were badly undercooked, the albumen wasn’t white it was opaque and jelly, I couldn’t eat mine, finally to pay £3 for a bottle of orange juice (that retailed locally for under £2) was the last straw I’m afraid.

What a fantastic place to stay! We stayed for a long weekend with my extended family to celebrate a 60th birthday and couldn’t have chosen a better location. The facilities were great with the pool , games room and woodland walk; the accommodation, with the recent refurbishment, was super and suited exactly what we needed; and Max and Alex were so helpful and sorted anything we needed for the young families and ensured we had a brilliant time. We would highly recommend a visit to LB - you won’t be disappointed!

This is the place to unwind, at a holiday park in Cornwall. Charming timber lodges and chalets, many overlooking our own 9 hole golf course, offer a warm welcome for lovers of peace and tranquility, surrounded by stunning countryside. There's a games room with skittles and more, a tennis court and a kids adventure playground, but the main attraction is the location - perfectly placed for exploring all that Cornwall has to offer. Our two or three bedroom lodges have everything you need, with some having a dishwasher, washing machine and other extras - and all have a sun deck for relaxing at the end of a day's exploring. We also offer very reasonably priced chalets as an alternative - the perfect choice for holiday resorts in Cornwall. Whichever you choose, you can be sure of a warm welcome.

A lovely 4 nights stay

Myself and my family just came back from visiting Cornwall for the first time and we stayed at Doublebois Holiday Park in a platinum caravan with hot tub. The caravan comes with full kitchen appliances which is very good ?? good WiFi, beds are very comfortable and it's very clean. The park grounds are very beautiful and very well kept. The hot tub was checked every day ? we did hire out a bbq which was £5 for the day along with £20 deposit, you will get the £20 back only if the bbq is took back clean. The staff are very friendly and welcoming ? They is a games room and fitness room on site also with a alittle park area for the little ones and not for getting the nature trail you can do with them too, the children with get a certificate and badge for completing it please wear trainers when walking around it. There is no club house on site but we wasn't that bothered by it because there is alot of green area for your little ones to run around and they have the hot tub. Myself and my family really enjoyed it here and we can't wait to book our stay here for next year ?
