Could be so much better

Arrived on the 1st June, 2022. was happy with the overall look of the hotel upon arrival. The staff are amazing so friendly and hard working. It’s a shame there isn’t enough of them. Our room wasn’t what we booked, we was given a room with a shower over bath, I booked a sea view room with a shower as I have mobility problems. I had also emailed the hotel before arriving, to request this. Spent the next 3 days going to reception to ask for a room change. Was offered a different room with a Garden room, I refused this room, as the pathway was broken and it had a terrace, which had easy access to the patio doors. Went to the TUI rep. Was offered a another Garden View room, which we accepted. After 3 days the hotel started to get busy, which caused a lot of concern. They were constantly running out of glasses, and ice. Very limited drink selection, They don’t have enough cups and run out of plates. The food in the main buffet restaurant on the 9th day, was very limited and cold. It’s a shame, because this hotel could be great, if run right.

Astypalea was our first stop on our recent 2 week trip to Greece. Ilias runs a top-notch operation...our 2 bedroom villa (Seabed) was extremely clean and well equipped with everything we needed. Ilias was responsive to any question and quickly delivered a rental car within a few hours after requested. The staff were so friendly and smiling at every turn. Thank you!

Efchi 1904

Located in the heart of Rhodes new town, Efchi Suites 1904 is one of the first buildings of the area Niochori, built in the 19th-20th century. It is among 150 listed buildings of the city and has hosted prominent families of Muslim, Italian and Greek origin. It is part of the history and culture of the city.It is within a short walking distance from an organized beach, the Aquarium, casino, harbour, the central bus and taxi station and of course the Medieval Town.

A special boutique hotel in the heart of Rhodes run by some wonderful people. Delicious breakfast, elegant rooms.

A very special boutique hotel run by some wonderful people! Perfectly situated just 10 mins walk from the old town; right next to a lot of bars and restaurants; a stone throw’s away from the beach of Rhodes and a beautiful sunset, it is the perfect area to explore the town of Rhodes, old and new. It was also easy to drive out of town both to the western and eastern parts of the island. The room was very elegant with a nice four poster bed. It was very spacious with a little kitchenette and a communal outdoor space. The breakfast was delicious, cooked to order, be it crepes, omelettes, eggs, bruschettas, yoghurt with Rhodian honey, cake and home-made jam. We were really pampered by a friendly team of Mrs Froso, Mrs Dina, and Katerina, who all had great suggestions and recommendations for our visit and took great care of us. If you are looking for a more personalised experience than the vast block hotels, this is the perfect place!

This was the 6th time I stayed at Hotel Atlantis and once more, the only thing I did not like was having to leave. The matresses are super comfortable (not at all common in Greece), the people running it are very friendly and well informed. The place is very clean, the linens are of very good quality. The a/c units in the rooms have recently been replaced and work quietly. The breakfast room is airy and bright. The location is very central, right by the port. A variety of restaurants and shops are just steps away. If you choose to stay at Pigadia, I cannot think of a better place.

Perfect holiday apartments in the perfect location.

We have used the Hidden Garden apartments several times and would not hesitate to recommend these to anyone planning to visit Rhodes. The location is perfect, located on the Rhodes to Lindos coastal road. The local bus service is cheap and reliable, and the bus stops are just around the corner from the apartments. Trip to Rhodes town is only 20 minutes, so you have the option of heading to town or chilling out with the locals in Afandou village itself (about 10 minute walk). Many visitors would hire a car to see the entire island. The Georgia Hotel next to the apartments allows visitors the use of the pool and bar. A secret jewel opposite is the Hidden Garden restaraunt which offers a warm, friendly atmosphere with traditional authentic Greek cuisine at a very good price. The apartments themselves are fully equipped with everything you will ever need during your stay. They are kept in pristine condition and are cleaned regularly. Along with the restaurant, the apartments are a family run business, and believe me a nicer more friendly and helpful family you will never meet. George owns and manages the apartments and Nick does likewise with the restaurant. I can honestly not recommend enough. Google the location. Check out Afandou, the surrounding local villages and the countless excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. The secret is out, check out the Hidden Garden apartments.

Worst ‘Welcome’ Ever!

Reviewed By Anne1483

I have been to Rhodes many times as my son in law is from there, always have had a lovely warm welcome wherever I have stayed. I decided to book this accommodation on reading the good reviews as it was not far from the hotel my daughter and son in law had booked months earlier, but was now full so I couldn’t stay with them. On arriving at 11.30pm after a 6 hour journey, (I had previously emailed them to say it would be late) the first thing the lady who greeted us said - in Greek - was that I hadn’t paid. Thankfully my son-in-law was with me and could tell me what she was saying, I explained that I had booked through Expedia and hadn’t they paid her? No, she wanted the cash she said, I found my booking information and showed her that it said that Expedia had forwarded on my card details for her to take a deposit or for payment to be taken DURING my stay - but if she wanted the cash, now…. could she wait until the morning as we were all very tired and my daughter and family still had to go and check in at their hotel - I walk with a stick and am 66 and didn’t fancy looking for a cashpoint at that time of night. All she had to do was hold on to my passport until I had paid her, but no - she wanted the cash now because a previous guest had left without paying apparently. During this conversation with my son in law, she phoned her son who said we were to leave!!!!!! She handed the phone to my son in law - but he then looked shocked and handed it back to her because her son refused to speak to him and had put the phone down! I sat on the edge of the bed and could have cried… I gave my son in law my card and said go and find a cash point so we can settle this now, which he did, he was gone about 20 minutes …during which time my daughter was looking to see if there were any nearby accommodation as she didn’t want me staying there after this most unfriendly exchange, but all appeared to be full. I had to ask her for a receipt and she just gave me a handwritten one which was not on headed paper. Once she had the cash, I thought that would be that but as my daughter was about to leave I noticed there was no kettle in the room as advertised, as I was desperate for a cup of tea or coffee, there was not even a stove top to heat water in a saucepan…. when asked if I could have a kettle she just shrugged and said ‘tomorrow’. At 4am, just after I had finally got to sleep I was woken up by the sound of gushing water in the bathroom and when I looked the loo was ‘flushing’ all by itself and water was coming up through the drain outlets in the floor. This continued all night, I just put some towels down and closed the door as no way was I going to wander round looking for someone at that time of night. There was no phone to any sort of Reception desk. In the morning my daughter and son in law came to collect me as we had planned a day out and I asked my son in law to tell her about the toilet - she then accused us of breaking it! I didn’t even bother asking what he had replied to her but reminded him to ask for a kettle again. “Later” she said. On our return she came in with a receipt book and said I could have a refund if I paid 70 euros for the night I had stayed! I just looked at her - I hadn’t even asked for a refund at all and anyway, it was only 44 euros a night? I was heartily sick of all this now and said no - I have paid you the full amount for the week, I will stay for the week as planned and can I have a kettle please as you have advertised? Again she said “later”…. To sum all this up - I never got the kettle, so could never have a hot drink or heat anything up while I was there. There was a frying pan in the cupboard, a couple of saucepans but no where to use them. There were mugs in the drawer but for what I don’t know. There was a fridge and a sink unit. The TV was very nice, fixed to the wall but I could get no more than the one channel on it. The ‘complimentary’ toiletries as advertised was a dispenser of hand soap and half a toilet roll. The daily maid service as advertised appeared once during the week and replenished the toilet roll and changed the sheets and towels, which were very white and clean. The room was very plain, just a double bed (I had booked two singles but no matter) two small bedside tables and two lamps, one of which did not work. A wooden chair and a cupboard with a high rail. No drawers. No decoration of any kind such as a picture or two. The air conditioning was good as was the wifi. I do not know what the beach across the road was like as I didn’t want to go on my own as I had been made to feel like a criminal and very unwelcome. I can understand how awful it must be to have non paying guests - but that was not me or my fault, so why not just hold my passport until the morning when I would have paid? And WHY offer a refund when I hadn’t asked for one? This along with the refusal to supply the kettle, the accusation of breaking the toilet (which by the way was not broken but just the plunger sticking, we later realised) made me feel very unwelcome and for the life of me I don’t know why, as it started from the minute we arrived. For the second week of my holiday, I stayed in the Mitsis La Vita Rhodes - again booked through Expedia and there was no problem whatsoever, it was cheaper AND with half board…. plus a very welcome kettle!

A Pearl in the Dodecanese

We initially booked for one night at Villa Maria as part of a yachting holiday . The winds and extreme temperatures cut the sailing aspect of the holiday short however this is not the reason we stayed for 6 nights in total . Maria , Michaelangelo and Anthi made our visit so special we just didn’t want to leave . The apartments were spacious , beautifully decorated , with well equipped kitchenettes and fabulous air conditioning . Very good value . The pool was lovely and clean , the pool bar , a lot of fun and this is where we spent most of the time in the shade when temperatures topped 42/43 degrees . Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating , lovely menu , Maria’s Canneloni and souvlaki plate being the highlight of the stay. Michelangelo’s mojitos were the best I’ve ever had . Maria & Anthi included us in their family celebrations and went over and above to give us the most memorable stay . Michelangelo blew us away with his attention to details , fabulous service and most of all , his friendship . It is rare that I find somewhere so welcoming and I will be back . A Perfect Greek Island discovery . Very highly recommended.
