The 10 Best Tours in Zanzibar Archipelago, Zanzibar Archipelago

June 9, 2021 Rebbecca Marino

A group of islands and islets some 25 miles off the Tanzanian coast, the Zanzibar Archipelago is headlined by Unguja (often referred to simply as Zanzibar) and Pemba. Once a separate nation, Zanzibar has a long history of trade with the Arab world, dating back to at least the 11th century. The capital, Stone Town, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has many interesting historic attractions. Zanzibar's bright white beaches and nearby coral reefs make it very popular with the sun and sea set.

The full day trip turned out to be 3.5 hour! The tour guide knew very little about history of Stone Town or the Prison Island. I really regret booking this tour before getting to Zanzibar. You can find a better selection of tours for much better prices when in town!!

This tour delivered on all points. My guide, Juma was professional, very knowledgeable, and eager to share information. He was a perfect gentleman along with being my private photographer. Because he was taking photos, I could pay attention to the tour and concentrate on history shared by the guide at the slade trade history museum. The information was extremely emotional for me, but certainly worth the time and cost of the tour. Oh! And the driver was friendly and safe. Loved the entire tour!

This is one of our most recommended activities in Zanzibar, where you can swim and snorkel at three different spots (Dolphins, relaxing at the Sandbanks, and Snorkeling at the Mnemba reef. Mnemba Island was ranked #1 Best Beach Destination in Africa by tripsavvy. For the sake of precision, Mnemba is a reef and not an Atoll, as sometimes called Mnemba Atoll in many publications and charts. Mnemba is well known for the excellent clarity of its waters ( for this area of the Indian Ocean) and the unusually prolific and diverse corals and tropical marine life where you can able to spot different species of fishes while Snorkeling. Some of the species that you can see at Mnemba reef include; Angel Fish, Blue Spotted Rays, Black Snappers, Groupers, Red Tooth Triggers, Flounder, Octopuses, Leaf Fish, Scorpion Fish, Stone Fish, Frog Fish, and lots of Trevallies.

Inclusions: Bottled water, Fruits (Watermelon, Pineapple, Bananas, Mangoes, Coconut, etc), Use of Snorkelling equipment, Private transportation, Air-conditioned vehicle, All Fees and Taxes

Exclusions: Sunscreens, Towels

This is one of our must-do activities that you will not want to miss while you are in Zanzibar. On this trip, we might (85% chance) see dolphins while cruising from Nungwi to Mnemba, we will stop for a while and you can enjoy seeing dolphins swimming, also you can take photos.
