We contacted karmayatri for a 10 days tour in August 2019 for four people. We had great communication with Hashim and the preparation went smoothly. Hashim planned a special tour for us with less roads and more dirt tracks and high passes as we asked. This was hands down the best experience of my life so far. We were greated upon arrival by Hashim and his extremely friendly and helpful team and went straight to a village in the outskirts of Leh to get acclimatized to the high altitude for a day and a half. The house where we stayed was beautiful, clean and the views amazing. We also had the chance to eat amazing food prepared by Hashim's girlfriend, who's an actual chef in Mumbai during the rest of the year. We then went to rent Royal Enfield Himalayan and did a test ride to get used to the bike. We then left for 2 days in direction of the markha valley following the Zanskar River and coming back north of the Leh Kargil highway to do one pass above 4000m to check our body reaction to the altitude. As it was good, we went back to main camp close to Leh and decided to embark on a trip to nubra valley via khardung la, then folowing the Shyok River , Pangong Tso, Tso Moriri then back to Leh via the Manali Leh highway. We have seen amazing sceneries, wild foxes, wild horses, rare birds, struggled to catch our breath at 5300m, raced with the motorbikes in the sand , bathed in cold freezing rivers, played cricket at 4300m, drank beers beside campfires with skies packed with stars like you have never seen before, crossed rivers on our bikes and above all, spent amazing times with Hashim team We slept mostly in local guest houses and we never had to take care of anything, Hashim and his team took care that our only concerns were enjoying the views, the ride and the food. This was very pleasant and having a team of locals to take care of everything really did contribute to the success of this trip. Regarding security, we were there during the start of August 2019 when some events happened in Kashmir and the Indian government revoked the special status of Kashmir. Despite this, we did mot have any problem or concern or fear in Ladakh, Hashim's team took care of all the checkpoints with military with us and we never felt threatened by anybody , will it be military or locals. I would definitely recommend you booking a trip with karmayatri and to take the time to discuss your trip expectations with Hashim who speaks perfect english and very good french ( you have to challenge him on that ;) ). I would recommand karmayatri over others motorbike trip companies because of what I have seen there: we had medical supplies if needed, a mechanic with us at all time, our backpacks in the support car so we were free to ride as we wished whereas other groups had topcases or bags, and above all, we were a small group so we could ride longer, wait less for other riders and we could go to places were 4 people can go easily without too much logistic and where a group of 20 cannot. Thank you again for this lifetime experience Karmayatri.
