We highly recommend touring with OneBike. In the planning stages, OneBike staff were excellent communicators who were flexible and accommodating in tailoring a 3-day tour to meet all of our goals. The trip itself exceeded our expectations on every front by combining biking with a traditional safari and cultural program. It was amazing to bike amidst safari animals, interact with local people and learn about Maasai culture. A wide range of cyclers can partake, even kids, because those who want a break can ride in the support vehicle. Hillary and Octavian were friendly, professional, knowledgeable guides who shared fascinating information about the area's flora and fauna as well as the local and tribal cultures, while Octavian was an experienced, careful and safe driver. We stayed in beautiful lodges with comfortable accommodations and delicious, locally grown food. If you like biking and outdoor adventures and want to have a new experience that is a twist on traditional the safari, go with OneBike!

Amazing bucket list vacation with an amazing company. We went on an 6 day safari with guide Chris. Saw every animal, stayed in great accommodations, ate wonderful food and had the time of our lives. Could not recommend Kilisa's safari more. Following our safari, we embarked upon a Kilimanjaro trek along the 7 day Lemosho route with guides Rama and Bacari and crew. Everyone was so FRIENDLY and catered to our every need (lots of needs at 15k+ feet). We successfully summited and don't think we would have without the Kilisa team looking after us. Unforgettable trip that really lifted our spirits after no traveling due to global pandemic. Everyone in Tanzania is kind, warm and welcoming. The team at Kilisa is no exception. Please consider Kilisa and guides Chris, Rama and Bacari on your safari and trek!

Visit a small market with your host to discover locally grown produce. Learn about the ingredients used in Tanzanian cuisine before taking a tuk tuk 20 min to your host's home. Marissa, her husband William and his mother Shida are a warm and welcoming family who host you in their simple, modest mud house for a cultural and culinary experience. You will help Shida grate coconuts to make fresh coconut milk and prepare ugali, a traditional corn meal dish. Enjoy your meal sitting on benches outdoors with the entire family. Ugali is eaten communal style, with each person picking cake with their hand, rolling it into a ball, and using it to scoop vegetables or stew. A few other dishes you may try are uji (a millet and peanut porridge), beef and green banana stew) and rice with spiced beans. Dishes are cooked in coconut milk and simmered over a wood fire, giving it a distinct and delicious flavor! End your experience by sharing peanut brittle and Shida’s local brew with friends and family.

Inclusions: Private market visit and cooking class with your host Marissa, Alcoholic Beverages, Private transportation, Vegetarian and halal meals are available upon request, Transfers are included for city hotels (for airport/airport hotel transfers, there is an extra cost)

This was an incredibly welcoming and awesome experience from the start! William (Marissa’s husband) met us at a local coffee shop to drive us to his mother’s home in a village right near downtown Moshi. His mother welcomed us into her home with lots of other family members and neighbors. We felt like family too! We had made suggestions about types of foods that we wanted to learn about and they were incredibly accommodating. It was a wonderful hands on experience and really fun to learn how to make foods that we had already been eating (and love) in Tanzania. We also enjoyed spending time with Marissa and William’s two adorable children and other family members. We were also very impressed that they were able to easily accommodate a severe food allergy without hesitation. If you are looking for a unique, authentic experience, look no further. You found it! This experience will go above and beyond!

We had such an amazing experience with Milestone. We did the 7 day Lemosho route and had the most wonderful group of guides and porters. We could not have asked for a better experience - request Frances as your guide. He is amazing and knowledgeable and a great Swahili teacher if you have an interest in spending some time on your long hikes that way. Our safari was also incredible. All of our accommodations were taken care of and great, clean, and comfortable. Milestone was flexible was adjusting our booking when one of us had food poisoning and needed to postpone our hike by one day. All in all, great experience with everyone and j4 is the best cook on that mountain - no doubt about. Book with Milestone and you are guaranteed and really astounding experience in Tanzania.

It is known as the “Coca Cola route” – the Marangu route is one of the most popular routes leading to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Many hikers believe that the Marangu route is the easiest route to Uhuru peak, since it is the route which can be hiked in 5 days (making it a lower budget option). It is also the only route offering accommodation on the mountain, in the huts in each station. It is, unfortunately, a well-known fact, that the 5 days Marangu route has the lowest summit success rates of all the routes on the mountain. If you choose the Marangu route, we strongly recommend hiking for 6 days, to increase your chance to reach the summit successfully as more time on the mountain allows a greater chance for altitude acclimatization.
