Visited these guy’s shop whilst just passing by chance. Decided to book one of their trips to the waterfall and to see the canyon as had a day to kill. I’ve done a fair few of these trips but Spiro and Randi really tried their best to tailor to our needs. We basically didn’t want to be out for a whole day trip so they cut it back to around 4 hours which was enough to cram in the highlights. Good English were really knowledgeable about the area and history

Booked the tour last minute with Aria Travel and it was a great experience. My guide Gavi is very knowledgeable about the history and communicated it well. We started out early and had a little break at Belsh. I got to try the mountain tea. After the short break, we continued to Berat. It was lovely to see the Castle, the modern town, the Gori bridge and go up to houses to see how they were built in stacks. He recommended having lunch in Hotel Mangalemi. Good recommendation. The food was good and ok for the price. We left Berat and got to Apollonia before Sunset. He also presented the history of the Apollonia ruins and the church located inside. We left just at sunset. I definitely enjoyed the experience and went further to book more tours with Aria Travels.

Tirana was such an incredible and inspiring stop on my journey, but it wouldn’t have been so without the guidance of this magical human. Ilir. I spent several days with Ilir on various adventures. His knowledge is beyond, both in the rich history of the region but in matters of life as well. He is so special and I’m happy to call him a friend after this chance encounter. This is not just a 5 star rating, it’s a 10. Go and visit Tirana, but see all the other beautiful offerings of this beautiful country.

5. Birdwatching Albania

Albanian Trip

Albania is black in  birds during specially winter and spring. You  will love to see how much in the wild you can jump just one hour fifteen minutes form a big city like Tirana. This is the land of the Eagle, let's not forget, although eagles won't be much at sight where we're going this time. It would be good we start early morning and be at the lagoons when the sun's not too high yet. That's the best to be done for birding. We'll be at different locations in  the lagoon and we'll see what we can get. The local rangers will provide us with a scope and eventually a binocular. On our side we can bring a big military one that was once used to watch out for the enemy (meant : you) but best is to have some good gear of yours.

Inclusions: Environmental Management Charge (Reef Tax), Local taxes, National Park fees, Lunch, Driver/guide, Local guide, Tour escort/host, Hotel drop-off, Hotel pickup, Hotel/port pickup, Hotel/port pickup and drop-off, Port pickup and drop-off

A wonderful, really wonderful daytrip to Elbasan which consisted of a guided walk with Elton Caushi from Albanian Trip through the old town including via Egnatia, followed by a cooking class at The Salih Çeka professional (cooking) school. Under the guidance of Naim Bashmili and his students we learned to make two traditional local dishes, Tavë Kosi and Tavë Kumbulla. Needless to say we had a great lunch after the class! I can highly recommend this trip if you are into cooking with local and unusal ingredients!

6. Via Egnatia Tour

Albania Express Travel

The Via Egnatia was a road constructed by the Romans in the 2nd century BC. It crossed Illyricum, Macedonia and Thrace, running through territory that is now part of modern Albania, North Macedonia Greece and European Turkey as a continuation of Via Appia. Starting at Dyrrachium (now Durres) on the Adriatic Sea, the road followed a difficult route along the river Genusus (Shkumbin), over the Candaviae mountains and thence to the highlands around Lake Ohrid. It then turned south, following several high mountain passes to reach the northern coastline of the Aegean Sea at Thessalonica. From there it ran through Thrace to the city of Byzantium (later Constantinople, now Istanbul). It covered a total distance of about 1,120 km (696 miles/746 Roman miles). Like other major Roman roads, it was about six meters (19.6 ft) wide, paved with large polygonal stone slabs or covered with a hard layer of sand.

I can't thank our tour guide Adam enough for giving us a fun filled day from start to finish. If you are lucky enough to get him as your tour guide you will agree with me that he is one interesting man on this planet! He went above and beyond, even making additional pit stops. He showed us so much in one day that would of easily taken us two to three days to do. The tour exceeded my expectations. I can't wait to do future day trips in other countries/cities with Albanian Express Travel and Adam!
