The 10 Best Tours in Canterbury Region, South Island

October 20, 2021 Roseanne Arnett

Christchurch, the Garden City, and the Canterbury region are the perfect destination for daredevils. From northern Kaikoura to Waimate in the south, Canterbury is an adventure sports paradise. Hangliding, helibiking, bungee jumping, snowboarding, jetboating, rafting and skydiving get the adrenaline going. Golfing, flightseeing, swimming with dolphins and soaking in thermal pools are more laid-back temptations. Christchurch, a city of parks and gardens, is the country’s third largest urban area.

This day trip along with one to Lake Tekapo and Mt.Cook organized by NZSI were the highlights of our trip to the South Island. Mr. Anuj.K was an excellent tour guide and driver. He was very thoughtful, kind and considerate. He also clicked some great photographs of us. The hikes were refreshing and the look-out points were breathtaking. In general, the itinerary was concise and was followed to the T! We will definitely consider NZSI for future trips to the South Island.

I celebrated my birthday in Queenstown for 4days/3nights. My partner and I decided to visit Milford sound by booking a tour from altitude tours. I am writing this review to commend our most energetic, friendliest and awesome driver Tanya ( the crazy cat lady). She made our whole tiring and rainy day experience, the perfect day we had in Queenstown. From start until the end of the day, she never fails to entertain us with her life story and the tour itself. Aside from her enthusiastic attitude and expert driving, the highlights of our tour was the magnificent refreshing waterfalls, swimming dolfins, sunbating furseal, rainbow beside the waterfall, and windsurfing Keith the ?bird on the top of a van. I highly recommend you to book with them if you want your tour in Queenstown be the highlight of your vacation. Cheers to the crazy cat lady!????????

Only got to do the chair lift as we didn’t realise you needed to book for the zip lines. Views were stunning (especially coming down) and my kids enjoyed walking the little loop at the top. Was expecting maybe a cafe or something at the top as it’s not cheap ($60 for a family of 4), but still worth doing especially if it’s a nice sunny day
