Snow Village

We visited with a local guide which helped us to tour at our own pace. There is plenty to admire and the introductory film showing the construction of the site is an excellent start.
The Game of Thrones theme will attract many people this season but we are not fans and still enjoyed seeing the sculptures and depictions as well as the cinema, chapel, bar and restaurant.
Not sure I would want to stay in the hotel overnight, but to tour for an hour or so is well worth doing and not too expensive on local standards.

Seven Fells Up

The company has its counter near jounin kauppa in K- market in Äkashlompolo. Booked Northern walking tour for us (leaving kids at home due to temperature issues with my parents). It was 55€ per adult. We spoke with Sabrina but our tour guide was Neels. We were 9 people all together. A Swiss family(enthusiastic), an Australian family (with 3 kids - very warm people).
Tour was nice. We were given snowshoeing gears and were given proper instructions for the walk. We walked through forest on heavy snow. Then after around 40 minutes reached a cottage. Drank warm juice and grilled sausages. Listened to some good stories about Lapland.
While returning saw northern lights too. That was the best part. Good 2 and half hours trip.

Rami's Huskies

Reviewed By yvet0 - Singapore, Singapore

Really glad that we managed to go for the 10km husky ride. Is an experience for both me & my husband. We pre-booked our safari directly with Rami's huskies (much cheaper than tagging onto other safari company), and were greeted by one of the guides at the door front. Firstly, we were given clear instructions of how to control the sledge. After which, we were led to our sledge & met our ultra-hyper excited and energetic huskies. The non-stop Barking and excitement really made us "WOW" in disbelieve!! These huskies only stopped Barking after they started running. Love the ride, and both of us had the chance to be the driver. Amazing experience. Those huskies were well-trained.
After the ride, we were given ample time to play with all huskies, before we had some snacks and chat in an indoor tepee with fireplace, followed by more time with huskies before saying goodbye. Would recommend anyone to go for huskies Safaris.

What was the most remarkable experience of our one week vacation in Lapland? The husky adventure! We spent a day in the wild with Sanna and Riku and we felt like being friends and not customers.
You can see that the owners really care about their dogs and giving their guests a great experience. The animals are very well trained. We got a few instructions and shortly afterwards were driving through the snow-covered forest. We stopped near a frozen lake where a fire was made. We all got some hot lunch and could relax a bit before we drove back.
We couldn't have imagined having a better day in the countryside. Highly recommended if you are in the area.

What can I say about this company except they are absolutely fantastic. Everybody from the front desk to the guides were absolutely fantastic. They were also professional and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We did three trips with them; the reindeer Safari by hannu, the salmon seeking on the lake and the Husky Farm visit and sleigh ride. it was just perfect. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

This is a visitors' centre of the state forest agency providing all kind of services for outdoor life in the north. Here they have a nice exibition about how it used to be in Lapland ages ago. They have non-stop films about Lapland. There is always a rotating exibition of local artist's. There is a small library, PC-service, book shop and an info desk as well as a cafe. There is also a "cinema" presenting quite new films at a price of a fraction compared to the cities. We saw already La la land there.
From this place you can start many wonderful nature trails with useful information on the way - only outside winter time. The scenery is grat.
The only problem is to get there, if you don't have a car. Local buses go there, but only a few per day. You can also walk there. It's only a few kilometers from Akaslompolo - uphill! In the winter you can go by skiis.
