Ponquogue Beach

Reviewed By stringali - Hampton Bays, New York

Ppnquogue beach is such a beautiful beach that is open ask year round. Access is free during the off season (after labor day and before memorial day) you will need a pass to enter during the peak months. Passes are available at the booth or at the town, discount to residents of Southampton.

The sand is very clean and offers much space to place a blanket and hang out with friends or family. Life guards are on duty during the summer months until 5pm. They also offer concessions and restrooms too.

It's a beautiful place and a nice ride and view from the ponquogue bridge.

Cupsogue Beach County Park

This was an exciting afternoon for all on Cupsogue Beach. The more so that crashing water from the big surf continually cascaded over the high point of the beach as High Water approached. Walking in the surf, trying to stay upright as the undertow rushed backwards down to the sea, people watching and just sitting relaxing all contributed to an exhilarating experience.

Quogue Wildlife Refuge

Reviewed By LongIslandMabel - Long Island

I thought I was well informed about the opportunities to explore nature on Long Island but the Quogue Wildlife Refuge was not on my radar. When I joined the Sierra Club for a hike in this beautiful park, it was a wonderful surprise. With miles of trails, there is a trail for every level of hiker--1 mile, 3 miles or 7 miles with clear markings to keep you from getting lost. The welcome/nature center is lovely with some of the local turtles and other animals on view plus a modern bathroom. A big picture window affords a view of the large pond that was originally dug as an ice pond when people's refrigeration depended on keeping large blocks of ice. A little ice house museum displays some of those early tools. The next stop before beginning the trails is an outdoor caged area where several animals are kept--they've all been injured and successfully treated but are unable to be released to be on their own. To see the beautiful Barred Owl, the adorable Barn Owl and a majestic Eagle in addition to several other rescues up close is a real treat. A variety of trees and bushes and other plants are part of the forested area and the wide, clear trails also skirt the ponds and creeks that provide views of ducks and turtles. Lots of activities are available for families with children and this is a very worthwhile site for anyone who enjoys the outdoors.

Great place to visit especially with children. A bit pricey so take advantage of any discounts they may offer ie AAA, AARP, Senior Thursday etc. Sea lion, penguin, and otter shows. Colorful and well maintained tanks from small fish to sharks. Great Butterfly house and bird aviary. Worthwhile entertainment. Parking is plentiful but does require walking a few blocks to reach parking lots.

This company and I had been communicating prior to the physical activity. Their customer service were accommodating, friendly, and sweet. I decided to rent a car because the train schedule was too inflexible for my schedule. When I arrived at the skydiving center, I realized that I came in too early. But this timing was perfect because there were more 4 participants arriving. We watched the safety show and signed the liability paperwork. We got prepped and ready to be on board. As I was on the plane, I glanced through the window and thought that the landscape near the beach looked so gorgeous. When it was my time to jump, I was with their instructor- Aish. The jumping 120mph was the most amazing feeling in the sky! He pulled his parachute. We gloated in the sky watching all the beautiful landscapes. We spinned around like a roller coaster ride in the sky. We landed nicely and safely! I'd recommend going to this skydiving center! I'd do it again and again in springtime / summertime! I already can't wait!

The location in the Quogue Village Hall is comfortable and welcoming. Parking is easy and the price is very inexpensive. No productions in the summer. Fall through spring, we try to attend them all.

Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center

Reviewed By Colleen H - New York

As a surprise for my husband's birthday, I purchased tickets for a Johnny Lang concert that was being held at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center. Neither of us had ever been to a concert at this location, but were hoping we'd have good seats. On my gosh, I don't think there's a bad seat in the house! The venue appears to have been an old movie theater, filled with the charm of moldings and regal decorations from days gone by. We arrived about 30 minutes before the show, and there were several waiting areas that were ample for holding all patrons. A small bar was set up that was selling bottled water, beer, wine, and other drinks. We thought the beer/wine was a bit pricey at $9/glass but when recalling what we've paid for drinks during Broadway shows, it was a bargain. Patrons were allowed to bring their drinks into the auditorium. We were shown to our seats--five rows from the stage and very comfortable! The show itself was amazing, and we were absolutely thrilled with the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center. I would not hesitate to purchase tickets for another event!

We had a visit from our granddog over the weekend and brought her to Pawcasso. We purchased some treats and bones for her. We returned on her last day and she pushed open the door to get on herself. She loved the treats and the owners gave her a sample.
