Diamond Valley Railway

Reviewed By phebianMelbourne - Melbourne

Brought our 5 year old grand-daughter here (and her older sister) for a birthday treat. After a reasonably long ride around corners, through stations, across Bridges and through tunnels; we asked our birthday girl what she wanted to do next. The reply was
"Please may we do it again, but on another train." We did and they were just as excited the second time around. What a fantastic place! There are picnic facilities, a children's playground, horse rides, and a van that sells enormous gelati ice creams!. Definitely worth a visit.

We have been to many wineries in the Yarra Valley as we live closeby, but it was lovely to be picked up and driven by someone else. Our driver/ guide David was very knowledgeable and took us to a couple of wineries that we had never been to which was great, as well as others that were favourites. We had lunch at De Bortolis which is always wonderful food and service, we even tasted and bought some cheese from their special cheese room. It was a bonus that there was just four of us plus driver on the tour, so it was very personal and in a most comfortable vehicle. Communication with the company was reliable and timely. The other couple on the tour with us were from the US and they had booked it from there with no problem. Thanks to all concerned for a great day and especially my daughter for the gift voucher.

100 Acres Reserve

Reviewed By Oldjack - Greater Melbourne, Australia

It is large hence its name and the wooded area sits behind a football field and some other open areas. Around its edges it is now fairly much developed and good to see someone had the foresight to retain this piece of natural bush. There are some walking tracks through what is typical Australian bush land.

A lovely place to take the family or a loved one for a git of mini golf. With the outdoor and indoor course on offer (or both if you cant resist), the courses are both challenging and fun. They are constantly upgrading with minor changes made regularly. Also great to be able to win prizes for hole in ones and overall score. Ask at the desk when you finish.

If you can ignore the brown colour of the water you will find Ringwood Lake a restful oasis.
A great childrens playground, plenty of tables and bench Seating, interesting paths, open spaces and the lake.
I have taken my Grandson, Thomas there often. The area is always clean, safe and dotted with families.
There are families feeding the ducks on the lake if that suits you, clean amenities and lots of shady trees for when the weather gets warmer.
A lovely space!

Mount Lofty

Reviewed By UrbanDrifter - Melbourne

Mount Lofty features some of the nicest views in Warrandyte State Park. This 5.5 km walk is the perfect way to take in the summit and surrounding area, without getting the heart pumping too much or taking up too much time. There are several spots along the banks of the Yarra River (just off the track) that would be perfect for a picnic.
The walk begins at the point where the Yarra River meets Brushy Creek, which is said to be the birth-place of a Wurundjeri elder called William Barak. Start by crossing the foot-bridge (over the creek) at the north end of the carpark. Warrandyte State Park officially begins on the other side of the bridge and a well defined gravel walking track will lead you along the Yarra from here. The summit of Mount Lofty is reached quickly but you’ll find yourself stopping to check out the views all the way up.
Plenty of parking. Not wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Take water and wear a hat. Beware of snakes in the warmer months.

This is a great ride through lovely countryside. As an old rail line the hills are not hard and the track itself is usually in reasonable condition. Water stations are located along the track and has many really nice spots to stop and just enjoy the view.

Eastland Shopping Centre

Reviewed By Oldjack - Greater Melbourne, Australia

Eastland is large and has recently been expanded and caters for all tastes and needs for those that like shopping. The parking has improved and is well organized. The shops are those you can expect in all major Malls and it is a place to go if you have a need to shop rather than to spend time hanging out, unless you have a thing for shopping centers.
