The 10 Best Things to do in Warehouse District, Minnesota (MN)

June 6, 2021 Flossie Demartino

With its gleaming skyscrapers set amid glittering lakes, Minneapolis makes for an attractive and fun getaway. A truly year-round destination, the city offers activities for every season. In winter, one can explore the downtown area through more than seven miles of glass-enclosed skyways. In addition to keeping you warm, they create a lively thoroughfare filled with specialty shops, restaurants and services. Whether you want to escape the winter cold or the summer warmth, the Mall of America offers shopping, dining and entertainment options for any time of the year and every member of the family. Art lovers have plenty to see at the Minneapolis Art Institute, Walker Art Center and the Frederick R. Weisman Art Museum, which all house world-renowned collections. The theater scene is thriving. With more than thirty theaters, Minneapolis has more seats per capita than any U.S. city except New York. See a Broadway show and enjoy dinner and live jazz at a fabulous restaurant. With kids in tow, check out the Science Museum of Minnesota, where visitors can produce their own video, or come face to face with a shark at the UnderWater Adventures Aquarium. In summer, the action moves outside. Known as "The City of Lakes," Minneapolis has 22 lakes located within city limits and many more in the surrounding area. In town, hordes of locals and tourists in-line skate or stroll around Lake Calhoun, stopping for ice cream along the way. Just outside of town, Fort Snelling State Park offers outdoor recreational activities from hiking to biking and golf to boating. No matter when you visit, Minneapolis offers lots for everyone to enjoy.

Embury Spa

This was one of the most incredible experiences i've had. Not only was the massage, body wrap, and facial phenomenal BUT the experience that this staff created was more than I could ever have dreamed of. Bridget was incredible!!! My friend and I are both vegan and I was a little nervous that we would leave the spa hungry because we were there for a half day spa (Embury Signature Package). Little did we know that it would be the best and most filling vegan meal we would have. We even left with little goodie bags of out leftovers. Bridget checked went WAYYY above and beyond in every way possible and truly made my very average and normal self feel like a queen. On top of this the actual treatments and people I worked with were just as phenomenal. Amanda did my body wrap...and if you're confused about what this is and how it would be helpful...just do it. It was incredible and Amanda was really great about communicating what she was doing and making sure I was comfortable. I've had spa treatments before, but never something this magical. Tiffany did my facial and massage and again, not only was it one of the best I've had but she communicated so well and made me feel like I was just spending time with someone I had known forever. Overall I felt like I spent the day with family, even when I was mingling with other guests in the waiting area. The small common space, provides a way to unexpectedly connect with other guests and adds to the entire experience. I highly recommend this spa and package, you will never forget it!

Very enjoyable pre Twins game lunch. Restaurant is following good Covid protocols, so felt safe. Santa Fe Salad was wonderful, tasty chicken, corn relish, avocado. Juicy Loopy burger and French Dip also very good. Seasoned fries were very thin and crisp. Our server was very good and made sure we had every thing we needed. Comfortable warehouse chic decor. We will definitely be back.

Gluek's Restaurant and Bar

The Gluek building, built in 1902, is a landmark in downtown Minneapolis with distinctive Bavarian beer hall design, detailed woodwork, stained glass, and famous vaulted ceilings. Gluek's is a 4th generation family owned & operated bar & restaurant since 1934, making it the oldest bar in downtown Minneapolis. Our hand-crafted menu includes German inspired entrees, grilled sandwiches, fresh garden salads and homemade desserts. We feature Minnesota's oldest beer label- Gluek's Pilsener Pale Lager along with our Haus Red & Haus IPA. The full bar also carries the best in local & national beers and spirits, and a bartending staff able to mix cocktails for any occasion.
